but the seventh H7637 day H3117 is a sabbath H7676 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430; in it you shall not do H6213 any H3605 work H4399, you or your son H1121 or your daughter H1323, your male H5650 or your female H519 slave H5650 H519 or your cattle H929 or your sojourner H1616 who H834 is within your gates H8179.
“Now as for you, bring H7126 near H7126 to yourself Aaron H175 your brother H251, and his sons H1121 with him, from among H8432 the sons H1121 of Israel H3478, to minister H3547 as H3547 priests H3547 to Me—Aaron H175, Nadab H5070 and Abihu H30, Eleazar H499 and Ithamar H385, Aaron's H175 sons H1121.
Then Moses H4872 entreated H2470 [fn]the favor H2470 H6440 of Yahweh H3068 his God H430 and said H559, “O Yahweh H3068, why H4100 does Your anger H639 burn H2734 against Your people H5971 whom H834 You have brought H3318 out H3318 of the land H776 of Egypt H4714 with great H1419 power H3581 and with a strong H2389 hand H3027?
Then Yahweh H3068 spoke H1696 to Moses H4872, “Go H1980! I am Yahweh H3068 your God H430.'”
‘Now if H3588 the [fn]means H3027 of a sojourner H1616 or of a foreign H8453 resident H8453 with you becomes H5381 sufficient H5381, and a brother H251 of yours becomes H4134 so poor H4134 with H5973 regard H5973 to H5973 him as to sell H4376 himself to a sojourner H1616 who resides H8453 with you or H176 to the descendants H6133 of a sojourner's H1616 family H4940,
So Yahweh H3068 said H559 to Aaron H175, “You and your sons H1121 and your father's H1 household H1004 with you shall bear H5375 the guilt H5771 [fn]in connection with the sanctuary H4720, and you and your sons H1121 with you shall bear H5375 the guilt H5771 [fn]in connection with your priesthood H3550.
Then Yahweh H3068 spoke H1696 to Aaron H175, “Now behold H2009, I Myself H589 have given H5414 you the responsibility H4931 of My [fn]contributions H8641, even all H3605 the holy H6944 gifts of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 I have given H5414 them to you as a portion H4888 and to your sons H1121 as a perpetual H5769 statute H2706.
“Only H7534 keep H8104 yourself and keep H8104 your soul H5315 very H3966 carefully H3966, lest H6435 you forget H7911 the things H1697 which H834 your eyes H5869 have seen H7200 and lest H6435 they depart H5493 from your heart H3824 all H3605 the days H3117 of your life H2416. But make H3045 them known H3045 to your sons H1121 and to your grandsons H1121.
“When H3588 you [fn]become H3205 the father H3205 of children H1121 and children's H1121 children H1121 and remain H3462 long H3462 in the land H776 and act H7843 corruptly H7843 and make H6213 [fn]a graven H6459 image H6459 in the form H8544 of anything H3605 and do H6213 that which H7451 is H7451 evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430 so as to provoke H3707 Him to H3707 anger H3707,
“Indeed H3588, ask H7592 now H4994 concerning the former H7223 days H3117 which H834 were before H6440 you, since H4480 the day H3117 that God H430 created H1254 [fn]man H120 on the earth H776, and inquire from one end H7097 of the heavens H8064 to the other H7097 H8064. Has anything been done H1961 like this H2088 great H1419 thing H1697, or H176 has anything been heard H8085 like H3644 it?
but the seventh H7637 day H3117 is a sabbath H7676 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430; in it you shall not do H6213 any H3605 work H4399, you or your son H1121 or your daughter H1323 or your male H5650 slave H5650 or your female H519 slave H519 or your ox H7794 or your donkey H2543 or any H3605 of your cattle H929 or your sojourner H1616 who H834 is within your gates H8179, so H4616 that your male H5650 slave H5650 and your female H519 slave H519 may rest H5117 as well as you.
‘You shall remember H2142 that you were a slave H5650 in the land H776 of Egypt H4714, and Yahweh H3068 your God H430 brought H3318 you out H3318 of there H8033 with a mighty H2389 hand H3027 and with an outstretched H5186 arm H2220; therefore H5921 H3651 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 commanded H6680 you to observe H6213 the sabbath H7676 day H3117.
“When H3588 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 brings H935 you into the land H776 where H834 H8033 you are entering H935 to possess H3423 it, and He clears H5394 away H5394 many H7227 nations H1471 before H4480 H6440 you, the Hittites H2850 and the Girgashites H1622 and the Amorites H567 and the Canaanites H3669 and the Perizzites H6522 and the Hivites H2340 and the Jebusites H2983, seven H7651 nations H1471 more numerous H7227 and stronger H6099 than H4480 you,
“Do not say H559 in your heart H3824 when Yahweh H3068 your God H430 has driven H1920 them out H1920 before H4480 H6440 you, saying H559, ‘Because of my righteousness H6666 Yahweh H3068 has brought H935 me in H935 to possess H3423 this H2088 land H776,' but it is because of the wickedness H7564 of these H428 nations H1471 that Yahweh H3068 is dispossessing H3423 them before H4480 H6440 you.
“So now H6258, Israel H3478, what H4100 does Yahweh H3068 your God H430 ask H7592 from you, but to [fn]fear H3372 Yahweh H3068 your God H430, to walk H1980 in all H3605 His ways H1870 and love H157 Him, and to serve H5647 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 with all H3605 your heart H3824 and with all H3605 your soul H5315,
“However H7534, you may sacrifice H2076 and eat H398 meat H1320 within any H3605 of your gates H8179, [fn]whatever H3605 you desire H185, according to the blessing H1293 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430 which H834 He has given H5414 you; the unclean H2931 and the clean H2889 may eat H398 of it, as of the gazelle H6643 and the deer H354.
“Be H8104 careful H8104 to listen H8085 to all H3605 these H428 words H1697 which H834 I command H6680 you, so H4616 that it may be well H3190 with you and your sons H1121 after H310 you forever H5704 H5769, for you will be doing H6213 what H2896 is H2896 good H2896 and right H3477 in the sight H5869 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430.
“If H3588 your brother H251, your mother's H517 son H1121, or H176 your son H1121 or H176 daughter H1323, or H176 the wife H802 [fn]you cherish H2436, or H176 your friend H7453 who H834 is as your own soul H5315, entices H5496 you secretly H5643, saying H559, ‘Let us go H1980 and serve H5647 other H312 gods H430' (whom H834 neither H3808 you nor H3808 your fathers H1 have known H3045,
“You shall not eat H398 anything H3605 which H5038 dies H5038 of itself. You may give H5414 it to the sojourner H1616 who H834 is within your gates H8179, so that he may eat H398 it, or H176 you may sell H4376 it to a foreigner H5237, for you are a holy H6918 people H5971 to Yahweh H3068 your God H430. You shall not boil H1310 a young H1423 goat H1423 in its mother's H517 milk H2461.
“If H3588 there is a needy H34 one H34 among you, one H259 of your brothers H251, in any H259 of your gates H8179 of the towns in your land H776 which H834 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 is giving H5414 you, you shall not harden H553 your heart H3824 nor H3808 close H7092 your hand H3027 from your needy H34 brother H251;
“It shall not seem H7185 hard H7185 in your sight H5869 when you [fn]let H7971 him go H7971 to be free H2670 from you, for he has given H5647 you six H8337 years H8141 with [fn]double H4932 the service H7939 of a hired H7916 man H7916; so Yahweh H3068 your God H430 will bless H1288 you in whatever H3605 H834 you do H6213.
“You shall set H6942 apart H6942 as H6942 holy H6942 to Yahweh H3068 your God H430 all H3605 the firstborn H1060 males H2145 that are born H3205 of your herd H1241 and of your flock H6629; you shall not work H5647 with the firstborn H1060 of your herd H7794 nor H3808 shear H1494 the firstborn H1060 of your flock H6629.
“Three H7969 times H6471 in a year H8141 all H3605 your males H2138 shall appear H7200 before H6440 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 in the place H4725 which H834 He chooses H977, at the Feast H2282 of Unleavened H4682 Bread H4682 and at the Feast H2282 of Weeks H7620 and at the Feast H2282 of Booths H5521, and they shall not appear H7200 before H6440 Yahweh H3068 empty-handed H7387.
“If H3588 there is found H4672 in your midst H7130, in any H259 of your gates H8179 of the towns which H834 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 is giving H5414 you, a man H376 or H176 a woman H802 who H834 does H6213 what H7451 is H7451 evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430, by trespassing H5674 against His covenant H1285,
“If H3588 any case H1697 is H6381 too H4480 difficult H6381 for you to judge H4941, between H996 [fn]one kind of homicide H1818 or another H1818, between H996 [fn]one kind of lawsuit H1779 or another H1779, and between H996 [fn]one kind of assault H5061 or another H5061, being cases H1697 of dispute H7379 in your gates H8179, then you shall arise H6965 and go H5927 up H5927 to the place H4725 which H834 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 chooses H977.
“If H3588 you go H3318 out H3318 to battle H4421 against H5921 your enemies H340 and see H7200 horses H5483 and chariots H7393 and people H5971 more H7227 numerous H7227 than H4480 you, do not be H3372 afraid H3372 of them; for Yahweh H3068 your God H430, who H834 brought H5927 you up H5927 from the land H776 of Egypt H4714, is with you.
“If H3588 you besiege H6696 a city H5892 for many H7227 days H3117, to make H3898 war H3898 against H5921 it in order to capture H8610 it, you shall not destroy H7843 its trees H6086 by swinging H5080 an axe H1631 against H5921 them; for you may eat H398 from them, and you shall not cut H3772 them down H3772. [fn]For is the tree H6086 of the field H7704 a man H120, that it should [fn]be besieged H4692 by you?
“If H3588 you happen H7122 to H7122 come H7122 upon H7122 a bird's H6833 nest H7064 along the way H1870, in any H3605 tree H6086 or H176 on the ground H776, with young H667 ones H667 or H176 eggs H1000, and the mother H517 sitting H7257 on the young H667 or H176 on the eggs H1000, you shall not take H3947 the mother H517 with the young H1121;
“When H3588 you reap H7114 your harvest H7105 in your field H7704 and have forgotten H7911 a sheaf H6016 in the field H7704, you shall not go H7725 back H7725 to get H3947 it; it shall be for the sojourner H1616, for the [fn]orphan H3490, and for the widow H490, in order H4616 that Yahweh H3068 your God H430 may bless H1288 you in all H3605 the work H4639 of your hands H3027.
“When H3588 you have finished H3615 [fn]paying H6237 all H3605 the tithe H4643 of your produce H8393 in the third H7992 year H8141, the year H8141 of tithing H4643, then you shall give H5414 it to the Levite H3881, to the sojourner H1616, to the [fn]orphan H3490, and to the widow H490, that they may eat H398 within your gates H8179 and be H7646 satisfied H7646.
“Now it will be, if H518 you diligently H8085 listen H8085 to the voice H6963 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430, being H8104 careful H8104 to do H6213 all H3605 His commandments H4687 which H834 I am commanding H6680 you today H3117, Yahweh H3068 your God H430 will set H5414 you high H5945 above H5921 all H3605 the nations H1471 of the earth H776.
“But it will be H1961, if H518 you do not listen H8085 to the voice H6963 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430, to keep H8104 and to do H6213 all H3605 His commandments H4687 and His statutes H2708 with which H834 I am commanding H6680 you today H3117, that all H3605 these H428 curses H7045 will come H935 upon you and overtake H5381 you:
“Yahweh H3068 will send H7971 upon you the curse H3994, confusion H4103, and rebuke H4045, in all H3605 [fn]that you send H4916 forth H4916 your hand H3027 to do H6213, until H5704 you are destroyed H8045 and until H5704 you perish H6 quickly H4118, on H4480 H6440 account H4480 H6440 of H4480 H6440 the evil H7455 of your deeds H4611, because H834 you have forsaken H5800 Me.
“Yahweh H3068 shall cause H5414 you to be [fn]defeated H5062 before H6440 your enemies H340; you will go H3318 out H3318 one H259 way H1870 against H413 them, but you will flee H5127 seven H7651 ways H1870 before H6440 them, and you will become an example of terror H2113 to all H3605 the kingdoms H4467 of the earth H776.
“So all H3605 these H428 curses H7045 shall come H935 on you and pursue H7291 you and overtake H5381 you until H5704 you are destroyed H8045, because H3588 you would not listen H8085 to the voice H6963 of Yahweh H3068 your God H430 to keep H8104 His commandments H4687 and His statutes H2708 which H834 He commanded H6680 you.
“So it will be, when H3588 all H3605 of these H428 things H1697 have come H935 upon you, the blessing H1293 and the curse H7045 which H834 I have set H5414 before H6440 you, and you cause these things to return H7725 to your heart H3824 in all H3605 the nations H1471 where H834 H8033 Yahweh H3068 your God H430 has banished H5080 you,
Then Yahweh H3068 said H559 to Moses H4872, “Behold H2005, [fn]the time H3117 for you to die H4191 is near H7126; call H7121 Joshua H3091 and present H3320 yourselves at the tent H168 of meeting H4150, that I may commission H6680 him.” So Moses H4872 and Joshua H3091 went H1980 and presented H3320 themselves at the tent H168 of meeting H4150.
“Blessed H835 are you, O Israel H3478;
Who H4310 is like H3644 you, a people H5971 saved H3467 by Yahweh H3068,
Who is the shield H4043 of your help H5828
And the sword H2719 of your majesty H1346!
So your enemies H340 will cower H3584 before you,
And you will tread H1869 upon their high H1116 places H1116.”
Now Yahweh H3068 said H559 to Joshua H3091, “Do not fear H3372 or be dismayed H2865. Take H3947 all H3605 the people H5971 of war H4421 with you and arise H6965, go H5927 up H5927 to Ai H5857; see H7200, I have given H5414 into your hand H3027 the king H4428 of Ai H5857, his people H5971, his city H5892, and his land H776.
Then the men H376 of Gibeon H1391 sent H7971 word to Joshua H3091 to the camp H4264 at Gilgal H1537, saying H559, “Do not [fn]abandon H7503 H3027 H4480 your slaves H5650; come H5927 up H5927 to us quickly H4120 and save H3467 us and help H5826 us, for all H3605 the kings H4428 of the Amorites H567 that live H3427 in the hill H2022 country H2022 have assembled H6908 against H413 us.”
Now it happened H1961 on the same H1931 night H3915 that Yahweh H3068 said H559 to him, “Take H3947 your father's H1 bull H6499 [fn]and a second H8145 bull H6499 seven H7651 years H8141 old, and pull H2040 down H2040 the altar H4196 of Baal H1168 which H834 belongs to your father H1, and cut H3772 down H3772 the [fn]Asherah H842 that is beside H5921 it,
Then the men H376 of Ephraim H669 were summoned H6817, and they crossed H5674 [fn]to Zaphon H6829 and said H559 to Jephthah H3316, “Why H4069 did you cross H5674 over H5674 to fight H3898 against the sons H1121 of Ammon H5983, but did not H3808 call H7121 us to go H1980 with you? They were making their hearts H3820 merry H3190, and behold H2009, the men H376 of the city H5892, certain H376 [fn]vile H1100 fellows H1121, surrounded H5437 the house H1004, pounding H1849 the door H1817; and they spoke H559 to the owner H1167 of the house H1004, the old H2205 man H376, saying H559, “Bring H3318 out H3318 the man H376 who H834 came H935 into your house H1004 that we may [fn]know H3045 him.”

Then Yahweh H3068 said H559 to Samuel H8050, “How H4970 long H5704 will you be grieving H56 over H413 Saul H7586? I have rejected H3988 him from being H4427 king H4427 over H5921 Israel H3478. Fill H4390 your horn H7161 with oil H8081 and go H1980; I will send H7971 you to Jesse H3448 the Bethlehemite H1022, for I see H7200 among his sons H1121 a king H4428 for Me.”
Then Saul's H7586 anger H639 burned H2734 against Jonathan H3083, and he said H559 to him, “You son H1121 of a perverse H5753, rebellious H4780 woman! Do I not know H3045 that you are choosing H977 the son H1121 of Jesse H3448 to your own shame H1322 and to the shame H1322 of your mother's H517 nakedness H6172?
“So now H6258, my lord H113, as Yahweh H3068 lives H2416 and as your soul H5315 lives H2416, since H834 Yahweh H3068 has restrained H4513 you from [fn]shedding H935 blood H1818, and from saving H3467 yourself by your own hand H3027, so now H6258, let your enemies H340 and those who seek H1245 evil H7451 against H413 my lord H113, be as Nabal H5037.
Then Saul H7586 said H559, “I have sinned H2398. Return H7725, my son H1121 David H1732, for I will not harm H7489 you again H5750 because H8478 H834 my life H5315 was H3365 precious H3365 in your sight H5869 this H2088 day H3117. Then David H1732 said H559 to Achish H397, “If H518 now H4994 I have found H4672 favor H2580 in your sight H5869, let them give H5414 me a place H4725 in one H259 of the cities H5892 in the country H7704, that I may live H3427 there H8033; for why H4100 should your servant H5650 live H3427 in the royal H4467 city H5892 with you?”
Now it happened H1961 in those H1992 days H3117 that the Philistines H6430 gathered H6908 their armed camps H4264 for war H6635, to fight H3898 against Israel H3478. And Achish H397 said H559 to David H1732, “Know H3045 assuredly H3045 that you will go H3318 out H3318 with me in the camp H4264, you and your men H376.”
