The Resurrection of Christ

1 Now ^G1161 I make ^G1107 known ^G1107 to you, brothers ^G80, the gospel ^G2098 which ^G3739 I proclaimed ^G2097 as good ^G2097 news ^G2097 to you, which ^G3739 also ^G2532 you received ^G3880, in which ^G3739 also ^G2532 you stand ^G2476,

2 by which ^G3739 also ^G2532 you are saved ^G4982, if ^G1487 you hold ^G2722 fast ^G2722 [fn]the word ^G3056 which ^G5101 I proclaimed ^G2097 to you as good ^G2097 news ^G2097, unless ^G1487 G3361 you believed ^G4100 for nothing ^G1500.

The Resurrection of the Dead

13 But if ^G1487 there is no ^G3756 resurrection ^G386 of the dead ^G3498, not even ^G3761 Christ ^G5547 has been raised ^G1453. 14 And if ^G1487 Christ ^G5547 has not been raised ^G1453, then ^G686 our preaching ^G2782 is vain ^G2756, your faith ^G4102 also ^G2532 is vain ^G2756. 15 Moreover ^G1161 we are even ^G2532 found ^G2147 to be false ^G5575 witnesses ^G5575 of God ^G2316, because ^G3754 we bore ^G5577 witness ^G5577 [fn]against ^G2596 God ^G2316 that He raised ^G1453 [fn]Christ ^G5547, whom ^G3739 He did not raise ^G1453, if ^G1512 in fact ^G686 the dead ^G3498 are not raised ^G1453. 16 For if ^G1487 the dead ^G3498 are not raised ^G1453, not even ^G3761 Christ ^G5547 has been raised ^G1453. 17 And if ^G1487 Christ ^G5547 has not been raised ^G1453, your faith ^G4102 is worthless ^G3152; you are still ^G2089 in your sins ^G266. 18 Then ^G686 those ^G3588 also ^G2532 who have fallen ^G2837 asleep ^G2837 in Christ ^G5547 have perished ^G622. 19 If ^G1487 we have hoped ^G1679 in Christ ^G5547 in this ^G3778 life ^G2222 only ^G3440, we are of all ^G3956 men ^G444 most ^G1652 to ^G1652 be ^G1652 pitied ^G1652.

But when ^G3752 He says ^G3004, “All ^G3956 things ^G3956 are put ^G5293 in ^G5293 subjection ^G5293,” it is evident ^G1212 that He is excepted ^G1622 who put ^G5293 all ^G3956 things ^G3956 in ^G5293 subjection ^G5293 to Him. 28 And when ^G3752 all ^G3956 things ^G3956 are subjected ^G5293 to Him, then ^G5119 the Son ^G5207 Himself ^G846 also ^G2532 will be subjected ^G5293 to the One who subjected ^G5293 all ^G3956 things ^G3956 to Him, so ^G2443 that God ^G2316 may be all ^G3956 in all ^G3956.

29 Otherwise ^G1893, what ^G5101 will those ^G3588 do ^G4160 who are baptized ^G907 [fn]for the dead ^G3498? If ^G1487 the dead ^G3498 are not raised ^G1453 at all ^G3654, why ^G5101 then ^G2532 are they baptized ^G907 for them? 30 Why ^G5101 are ^G2793 we also ^G2532 in ^G2793 danger ^G2793 every ^G3956 hour ^G5610? 31 I affirm ^G3513, brothers ^G80, by the boasting ^G2746 in you which ^G3739 I have ^G2192 in Christ ^G5547 Jesus ^G2424 our Lord ^G2962, I die ^G599 daily ^G2596 G2250. 32 If ^G1487 [fn]from human ^G444 motives ^G2596 I fought ^G2341 with ^G2341 wild ^G2341 beasts ^G2341 at Ephesus ^G2181, what ^G5101 does it profit ^G3786 me? If ^G1487 the dead ^G3498 are not raised ^G1453, LET US EAT ^G2068 AND DRINK ^G4095, FOR TOMORROW ^G839 WE DIE ^G599. 33 Do not be deceived ^G4105: “Bad ^G2556 company ^G3657 corrupts ^G5351 good ^G5543 morals ^G2239.” 34 Become ^G1594 righteously ^G1346 sober-minded ^G1594, and stop ^G3361 sinning ^G264; for some ^G5100 have ^G2192 no ^G56 knowledge ^G56 of God ^G2316. I speak ^G2980 this to your shame ^G1791.

The Resurrection Body

35 But someone ^G5100 will say ^G3004, “How ^G4459 are the dead ^G3498 raised ^G1453? And with what ^G4169 kind ^G4169 of body ^G4983 do they come ^G2064?”

36 You fool ^G878! That which ^G3739 you sow ^G4687 does not come ^G2227 to ^G2227 life ^G2227 unless ^G1437 G3361 it dies ^G599; 37 and that which ^G3739 you sow ^G4687, you do not sow ^G4687 the body ^G4983 which is to be, but a bare ^G1131 grain ^G2848, perhaps ^G5177 of wheat ^G4621 or ^G2228 of [fn]something ^G5100 else ^G3062. 38 But God ^G2316 gives ^G1325 it a body ^G4983 just ^G2531 as He wished ^G2309, and to each ^G1538 of the seeds ^G4690 a body ^G4983 of its own ^G2398. 39 All ^G3956 flesh ^G4561 is not the same ^G846 flesh ^G4561, but there is one ^G243 flesh of men ^G444, and another ^G243 flesh ^G4561 of beasts ^G2934, and another ^G243 flesh ^G4561 of birds ^G4421, and another ^G243 of fish ^G2486. 40 There are also ^G2532 heavenly ^G2032 bodies ^G4983 and earthly ^G1919 bodies ^G4983, but the glory ^G1391 of the heavenly ^G2032 is one ^G2087, and the glory of the earthly ^G1919 is another ^G2087. 41 There is one ^G243 glory ^G1391 of the sun ^G2246, and another ^G243 glory ^G1391 of the moon ^G4582, and another ^G243 glory ^G1391 of the stars ^G792; for star ^G792 differs ^G1308 from star ^G792 in glory ^G1391.

42 So ^G3779 also ^G2532 is the resurrection ^G386 of the dead ^G3498. It is sown ^G4687 [fn]a corruptible ^G5356 body, it is raised ^G1453 [fn]an incorruptible ^G861 body; 43 it is sown ^G4687 in dishonor ^G819, it is raised ^G1453 in glory ^G1391; it is sown ^G4687 in weakness ^G769, it is raised ^G1453 in power ^G1411; 44 it is sown ^G4687 a natural ^G5591 body ^G4983, it is raised ^G1453 a spiritual ^G4152 body ^G4983. If ^G1487 there is a natural ^G5591 body ^G4983, there is also ^G2532 a spiritual ^G4152 body. 45 So ^G3779 also ^G2532 it is written ^G1125, “The first ^G4413 MAN ^G444, Adam ^G76, BECAME ^G1096 A LIVING ^G2198 SOUL ^G5590.” The last ^G2078 Adam ^G76 became a life-giving ^G2227 spirit ^G4151. 46 However ^G235, the spiritual ^G4152 is not first ^G4413, but the natural ^G5591; then ^G1899 the spiritual ^G4152. 47 The first ^G4413 man ^G444 is from the earth ^G1093, [fn]earthy ^G5517; the second ^G1208 man ^G444 is from heaven ^G3772. 48 As is the earthy ^G5517, so ^G5108 also ^G2532 are those ^G3588 who are earthy ^G5517; and as is the heavenly ^G2032, so ^G5108 also ^G2532 are those ^G3588 who are heavenly ^G2032. 49 And just ^G2531 as we have borne ^G5409 the image ^G1504 of the earthy ^G5517, [fn]we will also ^G2532 bear ^G5409 the image ^G1504 of the heavenly ^G2032.

50 Now ^G1161 I say ^G5346 this ^G3778, brothers ^G80, that flesh ^G4561 and blood ^G129 cannot ^G1410 G3756 inherit ^G2816 the kingdom ^G932 of God ^G2316, nor ^G3761 does the corruptible ^G5356 inherit ^G2816 the incorruptible ^G861. 51 Behold ^G2400, I tell ^G3004 you a mystery ^G3466: we will not all ^G3956 sleep ^G2837, but we will all ^G3956 be changed ^G236, 52 in a moment ^G823, in the twinkling ^G4493 of an eye ^G3788, at the last ^G2078 trumpet ^G4536. For the trumpet ^G4537 will sound ^G4537, and the dead ^G3498 will be raised ^G1453 incorruptible ^G862, and we will be changed ^G236. 53 For this ^G3778 corruptible ^G5349 must ^G1163 put ^G1746 on the incorruptible ^G861, and this ^G3778 mortal ^G2349 must put ^G1746 on immortality ^G110. 54 But when ^G3752 this ^G3778 corruptible ^G5349 puts ^G1746 on the incorruptible ^G861, and this ^G3778 mortal ^G2349 puts ^G1746 on immortality ^G110, then ^G5119 will come ^G1096 about ^G1096 the word ^G3056 that is written ^G1125, “DEATH ^G2288 IS SWALLOWED ^G2666 UP ^G2666 in victory ^G3534. 55 O DEATH ^G2288, WHERE ^G4226 IS YOUR VICTORY ^G3534? O DEATH ^G2288, WHERE ^G4226 IS YOUR STING ^G2759?” 56 Now the sting ^G2759 of death ^G2288 is sin ^G266, and the power ^G1411 of sin ^G266 is the law ^G3551; 57 but thanks ^G5485 be to God ^G2316, who gives ^G1325 us the victory ^G3534 through ^G1223 our Lord ^G2962 Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547!

58 Therefore ^G5620, my beloved ^G27 brothers ^G80, be steadfast ^G1476, immovable ^G277, always ^G3842 abounding ^G4052 in the work ^G2041 of the Lord ^G2962, knowing ^G6063 that your labor ^G2873 is not in vain ^G2756 in the Lord ^G2962.
