The Covenant in Moab

1 [fn]These ^H428 are the words ^H1697 of the covenant ^H1285 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 commanded ^H6680 Moses ^H4872 to cut ^H3772 with the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 in the land ^H776 of Moab ^H4124, besides ^H4480 H905 the covenant ^H1285 which ^H834 He had cut ^H3772 with them at Horeb ^H2722.

2 [fn]And Moses ^H4872 summoned ^H7121 all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478 and said ^H559 to them, “You have seen ^H7200 all ^H3605 that Yahweh ^H3068 did ^H6213 before your eyes ^H5869 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 to Pharaoh ^H6547 and all ^H3605 his servants ^H5650 and all ^H3605 his land ^H776;

10 “You stand ^H5324 today ^H3117, all ^H3605 of you, before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430: your heads ^H7218, your tribes ^H7626, your elders ^H2205, and your officers ^H7860, even all ^H3605 the men ^H376 of Israel ^H3478, 11 your little ^H2945 ones ^H2945, your wives ^H802, and the sojourner ^H1616 who ^H834 is within ^H7130 your camps ^H4264, from the one who chops ^H2404 your wood ^H6086 to the one who draws ^H7579 your water ^H4325, 12 that you may enter ^H5674 into the covenant ^H1285 with Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 and into His oath ^H423, which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is cutting ^H3772 with you today ^H3117, 13 in order ^H4616 that He may establish ^H6965 you today ^H3117 as His people ^H5971 and that He may be your God ^H430, just ^H834 as He spoke ^H1696 to you and as He swore ^H7650 to your fathers ^H1, to Abraham ^H85, to Isaac ^H3327, and to Jacob ^H3290.

14 “Now not with you alone ^H905 am I cutting ^H3772 this ^H2088 covenant ^H1285 and this ^H2088 oath ^H423, 15 but both with those who ^H834 stand ^H5975 here ^H6311 with us today ^H3117 in the presence ^H6440 of Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430 and with those who ^H834 are not with us here ^H6311 today ^H3117— 16 for you know ^H3045 how ^H834 we lived ^H3427 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714, and how ^H834 we came ^H5674 through the midst ^H7130 of the nations ^H1471 through ^H5674 which ^H834 you passed ^H5674; 17 moreover, you have seen ^H7200 their detestable ^H8251 things ^H8251 and their idols ^H1544 of wood ^H6086, stone ^H68, silver ^H3701, and gold ^H2091, which ^H834 they had with them— 18 lest ^H6435 there ^H3426 be ^H3426 among you a man ^H376 or ^H176 woman ^H802, or ^H176 family ^H4940 or ^H176 tribe ^H7626, whose ^H834 heart ^H3824 turns ^H6437 away ^H6437 today ^H3117 from Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430, to go ^H1980 to serve ^H5647 the gods ^H430 of those ^H1992 nations ^H1471; lest ^H6435 there ^H3426 be ^H3426 among you a root ^H8328 bearing ^H6509 poisonous ^H7219 fruit ^H6509 and wormwood ^H3939. 19 And it will be when he hears ^H8085 the words ^H1697 of this ^H2088 curse ^H423, that he will [fn]bless ^H1288 himself ^H1288 in his heart ^H3824, saying ^H559, ‘I have ^H1961 peace ^H7965 though ^H3588 I walk ^H1980 in the stubbornness ^H8307 of my heart ^H3820 in order ^H4616 [fn]to sweep ^H5595 away ^H5595 the watered ^H7302 land with the dry ^H6771.’ 20 Yahweh ^H3068 shall not ^H3808 be ^H14 willing ^H14 to pardon ^H5545 him, but rather ^H3588 H227 the anger ^H639 of Yahweh ^H3068 and His jealousy ^H7068 will [fn]burn ^H6225 against that man ^H376, and every ^H3605 curse ^H423 which is written ^H3789 in this ^H2088 book ^H5612 will [fn]rest ^H7257 on him, and Yahweh ^H3068 will blot ^H4229 out ^H4229 his name ^H8034 from under ^H8478 heaven ^H8064. 21 Then Yahweh ^H3068 will separate ^H914 him out ^H914 for [fn]adversity ^H7451 from all ^H3605 the tribes ^H7626 of Israel ^H3478, according to all ^H3605 the curses ^H423 of the covenant ^H1285 which are written ^H3789 in this ^H2088 book ^H5612 of the law ^H8451.

22 “And the generation ^H1755 to come ^H314, your sons ^H1121 who ^H834 rise ^H6965 up ^H6965 after ^H4480 H310 you and the foreigner ^H5237 who ^H834 comes ^H935 from a distant ^H7350 land ^H776, shall see ^H7200 the plagues ^H4347 of the land ^H776 and the diseases ^H8463 with which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 has [fn]afflicted ^H2470 it, and they will say ^H559, 23 ‘All ^H3605 its land ^H776 is brimstone ^H1614 and salt ^H4417, a burning ^H8316 waste, [fn]unsown ^H3808 H2232 and nothing ^H3808 sprouting ^H6779, and no ^H3808 H3605 grass ^H6212 grows ^H5927 in it, like the overthrow ^H4114 of Sodom ^H5467 and Gomorrah ^H6017, Admah ^H126 and Zeboiim ^H6636, which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 overthrew ^H2015 in His anger ^H639 and in His wrath ^H2534.’ 24 And all ^H3605 the nations ^H1471 will say ^H559, ‘Why ^H5921 H4100 has Yahweh ^H3068 done ^H6213 thus ^H3602 to this ^H2088 land ^H776? Why ^H4100 this ^H2088 great ^H1419 burning ^H2750 anger ^H639?’ 25 Then men will say ^H559, ‘Because ^H5921 H834 they forsook ^H5800 the covenant ^H1285 of Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of their fathers ^H1, which ^H834 He cut ^H3772 with them when He brought ^H3318 them out ^H3318 of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714. 26 And they went ^H1980 and served ^H5647 other ^H312 gods ^H430 and worshiped ^H2331 them, gods ^H430 whom ^H834 they have not known ^H3045 and whom He had not apportioned ^H2505 to them. 27 Therefore, the anger ^H639 of Yahweh ^H3068 was kindled ^H2734 against that land ^H776, to bring ^H935 upon it every ^H3605 curse ^H7045 which is written ^H3789 in this ^H2088 book ^H5612; 28 and Yahweh ^H3068 uprooted ^H5428 them from their land ^H127 in anger ^H639 and in fury ^H2534 and in great ^H1419 wrath ^H7110, and He cast ^H7993 them into another ^H312 land ^H776, as it is this ^H2088 day ^H3117.’

29 “The secret ^H5641 things ^H5641 belong to Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430, but the things ^H1540 revealed ^H1540 belong to us and to our sons ^H1121 forever ^H5704 H5769, that we may do ^H6213 all ^H3605 the words ^H1697 of this ^H2088 law ^H8451.
