Keep the Commandments of Yahweh

1 “So now ^H6258, O Israel ^H3478, listen ^H8085 to the statutes ^H2706 and the judgments ^H4941 which ^H834 I am teaching ^H3925 you to do ^H6213, so ^H4616 that you may live ^H2421 and go ^H935 in ^H935 and take ^H3423 possession ^H3423 of the land ^H776 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of your fathers ^H1, is giving ^H5414 you.

2 You shall not add ^H3254 to the word ^H1697 which ^H834 I am commanding ^H6680 you, nor ^H3808 take ^H1639 away ^H1639 from it, that you may keep ^H8104 the commandments ^H4687 of Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 which ^H834 I am commanding ^H6680 you. 3 Your eyes ^H5869 have seen ^H7200 what ^H853 H834 Yahweh ^H3068 has done ^H6213 in the case of Baal-peor ^H1187, for all ^H3605 the men ^H376 who ^H834 walked ^H1980 after ^H310 Baal-peor ^H1187, Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 has destroyed ^H8045 [fn]them from among ^H7130 you. 4 But you who clung ^H1695 to Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 are alive ^H2416 today ^H3117, every ^H3605 one ^H3605 of you.

5 “See ^H7200, I have taught ^H3925 you statutes ^H2706 and judgments ^H4941 just ^H834 as Yahweh ^H3068 my God ^H430 commanded ^H6680 me, that you should do ^H6213 thus ^H3651 in the land ^H776 where ^H834 H8033 you are entering ^H935 to possess ^H3423 it. 6 You shall keep ^H8104 and do ^H6213 them, for that is your wisdom ^H2451 and your understanding ^H998 in the sight ^H5869 of the peoples ^H5971 who ^H834 will hear ^H8085 all ^H3605 these ^H428 statutes ^H2706 and say ^H559, ‘Surely ^H7534 this ^H2088 great ^H1419 nation ^H1471 is a wise ^H2450 and understanding ^H995 people ^H5971.’ 7 For what ^H4310 great ^H1419 nation ^H1471 is there that has a god ^H430 so near ^H7138 to it as is Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430 whenever ^H3605 we call ^H7121 on Him? 8 Or what ^H4310 great ^H1419 nation ^H1471 is there that has statutes ^H2706 and judgments ^H4941 as righteous ^H6662 as this ^H2088 whole ^H3605 law ^H8451 which ^H834 I am setting ^H5414 before ^H6440 you today ^H3117?

9 “Only ^H7534 keep ^H8104 yourself and keep ^H8104 your soul ^H5315 very ^H3966 carefully ^H3966, lest ^H6435 you forget ^H7911 the things ^H1697 which ^H834 your eyes ^H5869 have seen ^H7200 and lest ^H6435 they depart ^H5493 from your heart ^H3824 all ^H3605 the days ^H3117 of your life ^H2416. But make ^H3045 them known ^H3045 to your sons ^H1121 and to your grandsons ^H1121. 10 Remember the day ^H3117 you stood ^H5975 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 at Horeb ^H2722, when Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to me, ‘Assemble ^H6950 the people ^H5971 to Me, that I may cause them to hear ^H8085 My words ^H1697 so ^H834 they may learn ^H3925 to [fn]fear ^H3372 Me all ^H3605 the days ^H3117 they live ^H2416 on the earth ^H127, and that they may teach ^H3925 their children ^H1121.’ 11 And you came ^H7126 near ^H7126 and stood ^H5975 at ^H8478 the ^H8478 foot ^H8478 of ^H8478 the mountain ^H2022, and the mountain ^H2022 burned ^H1197 with fire ^H784 to the very heart ^H3820 of the heavens ^H8064: darkness ^H2822, cloud ^H6051, and dense ^H6205 gloom ^H6205. 12 Then Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to you from the midst ^H8432 of the fire ^H784; you heard ^H8085 the sound ^H6963 of words ^H1697, but you saw ^H7200 no ^H369 form ^H8544—only ^H2108 a voice ^H6963. 13 So He declared ^H5046 to you His covenant ^H1285 which ^H834 He commanded ^H6680 you to do ^H6213, that is, the Ten ^H6235 [fn]Commandments ^H1697; and He wrote ^H3789 them on two ^H8147 tablets ^H3871 of stone ^H68. 14 And Yahweh ^H3068 commanded ^H6680 me at that time ^H6256 to teach ^H3925 you statutes ^H2706 and judgments ^H4941, that you might do ^H6213 them in the land ^H776 where ^H834 H8033 you are going ^H5674 over ^H5674 to possess ^H3423 it.

15 “So keep ^H8104 your ^H5315 souls ^H5315 very ^H3966 carefully ^H3966, since ^H3588 you did not see ^H7200 any ^H3605 form ^H8544 on the day ^H3117 Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to you at Horeb ^H2722 from the midst ^H8432 of the fire ^H784, 16 lest ^H6435 you act ^H7843 corruptly ^H7843 and make ^H6213 a graven ^H6459 image ^H6459 for yourselves in the form ^H8544 of any ^H3605 figure ^H5566, the likeness ^H8403 of male ^H2145 or ^H176 female ^H5347, 17 the likeness ^H8403 of any ^H3605 animal ^H929 that is on the earth ^H776, the likeness ^H8403 of any ^H3605 winged ^H3671 bird ^H6833 that flies ^H5774 in the sky ^H8064, 18 the likeness ^H8403 of anything ^H3605 that creeps ^H7430 on the ground ^H127, the likeness ^H8403 of any ^H3605 fish ^H1710 that is in the water ^H4325 below ^H4480 H8478 the earth ^H776, 19 and lest ^H6435 you lift ^H5375 up ^H5375 your eyes ^H5869 to heaven ^H8064 and see ^H7200 the sun ^H8121 and the moon ^H3394 and the stars ^H3556, all ^H3605 the host ^H6635 of heaven ^H8064, and be drawn ^H5080 away ^H5080 and worship ^H2331 them and serve ^H5647 them, those which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 has apportioned ^H2505 for all ^H3605 the peoples ^H5971 under ^H8478 the whole ^H3605 heaven ^H8064. 20 But Yahweh ^H3068 has taken ^H3947 you and brought ^H3318 you out ^H3318 of the iron ^H1270 furnace ^H3564, from Egypt ^H4714, to be a people ^H5971 for His own inheritance ^H5159, as today ^H3117.

21 “Now Yahweh ^H3068 was angry ^H599 with me on your account ^H1697 and swore ^H7650 that I would not cross ^H5674 the Jordan ^H3383, and that I would not enter ^H935 the good ^H2896 land ^H776 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is giving ^H5414 you as an inheritance ^H5159. 22 For I will die ^H4191 in this ^H2088 land ^H776, I shall not cross ^H5674 the Jordan ^H3383, but you shall cross ^H5674 and take ^H3423 possession ^H3423 of this ^H2088 good ^H2896 land ^H776. 23 So keep ^H8104 yourselves, lest ^H6435 you forget ^H7911 the covenant ^H1285 of Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 which ^H834 He cut ^H3772 with you and make ^H6213 for yourselves a graven ^H6459 image ^H6459 in the form ^H8544 of anything ^H3605 against which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 has commanded ^H6680 you. 24 For Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is a consuming ^H398 fire ^H784, a jealous ^H7067 God ^H410.

25 “When ^H3588 you [fn]become ^H3205 the father ^H3205 of children ^H1121 and children’s ^H1121 children ^H1121 and remain ^H3462 long ^H3462 in the land ^H776 and act ^H7843 corruptly ^H7843 and make ^H6213 [fn]a graven ^H6459 image ^H6459 in the form ^H8544 of anything ^H3605 and do ^H6213 that which ^H7451 is ^H7451 evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 so as to provoke ^H3707 Him to ^H3707 anger ^H3707, 26 I call ^H5749 heaven ^H8064 and earth ^H776 to ^H5749 witness ^H5749 against you today ^H3117, that you will surely ^H6 perish ^H6 quickly ^H4118 from the land ^H776 where ^H834 H8033 you are going ^H5674 over ^H5674 the Jordan ^H3383 to possess ^H3423 it. You shall not prolong ^H748 your days ^H3117 on it, but will be utterly ^H8045 destroyed ^H8045. 27 And Yahweh ^H3068 will scatter ^H6327 you among the peoples ^H5971, and you will remain ^H7604 few ^H4962 in number ^H4557 among the nations ^H1471 where ^H834 H8033 Yahweh ^H3068 drives ^H5090 you. 28 And there ^H8033 you will serve ^H5647 gods ^H430, the work ^H4639 of man’s ^H120 hands ^H3027, wood ^H6086 and stone ^H68, which ^H834 neither ^H3808 see ^H7200 nor ^H3808 hear ^H8085 nor ^H3808 eat ^H398 nor ^H3808 smell ^H7306. 29 But from there ^H8033 you will seek ^H1245 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430, and you will find ^H4672 Him, for ^H3588 you will search ^H1875 for Him with all ^H3605 your heart ^H3824 and all ^H3605 your soul ^H5315. 30 When you are in distress ^H6862 and all ^H3605 these ^H428 things ^H1697 have come ^H4672 upon ^H4672 you, in the last ^H319 days ^H3117 you will return ^H7725 to Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 and listen ^H8085 to His voice ^H6963. 31 For Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is a compassionate ^H7349 God ^H410; He will not fail ^H7503 you nor ^H3808 destroy ^H7843 you nor ^H3808 forget ^H7911 the covenant ^H1285 with your fathers ^H1 which ^H834 He swore ^H7650 to them.

32 “Indeed ^H3588, ask ^H7592 now ^H4994 concerning the former ^H7223 days ^H3117 which ^H834 were before ^H6440 you, since ^H4480 the day ^H3117 that God ^H430 created ^H1254 [fn]man ^H120 on the earth ^H776, and inquire from one end ^H7097 of the heavens ^H8064 to the other ^H7097 H8064. Has anything been done ^H1961 like this ^H2088 great ^H1419 thing ^H1697, or ^H176 has anything been heard ^H8085 like ^H3644 it? 33 Has any people ^H5971 heard ^H8085 the voice ^H6963 of God ^H430 speaking ^H1696 from the midst ^H8432 of the fire ^H784, as you have heard ^H8085 it, and lived ^H2421? 34 Or ^H176 has a god ^H430 tried ^H5254 to go ^H935 to take ^H3947 for himself a nation ^H1471 from within ^H7130 another nation ^H1471 with trials ^H4531, with signs ^H226 and wonders ^H4159 and with war ^H4421 and with a mighty ^H2389 hand ^H3027 and with an outstretched ^H5186 arm ^H2220 and with great ^H1419 terrors ^H4172, [fn]as Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 did ^H6213 for you in Egypt ^H4714 before your eyes ^H5869? 35 To you it was shown ^H7200 that you might know ^H3045 that Yahweh ^H3068, He is God ^H430; there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 other ^H5750 besides ^H4480 H905 Him. 36 Out of the heavens ^H8064 He caused you to hear ^H8085 His voice ^H6963 to discipline ^H3256 you; and on earth ^H776 He caused you to see ^H7200 His great ^H1419 fire ^H784, and you heard ^H8085 His words ^H1697 from the midst ^H8432 of the fire ^H784. 37 [fn]Because ^H8478 H3588 He loved ^H157 your fathers ^H1, therefore He chose ^H977 their seed ^H2233 after ^H310 them. And He [fn]personally ^H6440 brought ^H3318 you from Egypt ^H4714 by His great ^H1419 power ^H3581, 38 dispossessing ^H3423 before ^H6440 you nations ^H1471 greater ^H1419 and mightier ^H6099 than ^H4480 you, to bring ^H935 you in ^H935 and to give ^H5414 you their land ^H776 for an inheritance ^H5159, as it is today ^H3117. 39 Know ^H3045 therefore today ^H3117, and take ^H7725 it to your heart ^H3824, that Yahweh ^H3068, He is God ^H430 in heaven ^H8064 above ^H4480 H4605 and on the earth ^H776 below ^H4480 H8478; there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 other ^H5750. 40 So you shall keep ^H8104 His statutes ^H2706 and His commandments ^H4687 which ^H834 I am commanding ^H6680 you today ^H3117, that it may go ^H3190 well ^H3190 with you and with your children ^H1121 after ^H310 you, and that you may prolong ^H748 your days ^H3117 on the land ^H127 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is giving ^H5414 you for all ^H3605 the days ^H3117.”

41 Then ^H227 Moses ^H4872 set ^H914 apart ^H914 three ^H7969 cities ^H5892 across ^H5676 the Jordan ^H3383 to the east toward the sunrise ^H4217 H8121, 42 that a manslayer ^H7523 might flee ^H5127 there ^H8033, who ^H834 slew ^H7523 his neighbor ^H7453 [fn]without premeditation ^H1847 H1097, [fn]not ^H3808 hating ^H8130 him previously ^H8032 H8543; so he shall flee ^H5127 to one ^H259 of these ^H411 cities ^H5892 that he might live ^H2421: 43 Bezer ^H1221 in the wilderness ^H4057 on the plateau ^H776 H4334 for the Reubenites ^H7206, and Ramoth ^H7216 in Gilead ^H1568 for the Gadites ^H1425, and Golan ^H1474 in Bashan ^H1316 for the Manassites ^H4520.

44 Now this ^H2088 is the law ^H8451 which ^H834 Moses ^H4872 set ^H7760 before ^H6440 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478; 45 these ^H428 are the testimonies ^H5713 and the statutes ^H2706 and the judgments ^H4941 which ^H834 Moses ^H4872 spoke ^H1696 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 when they came ^H3318 out ^H3318 from Egypt ^H4714, 46 across ^H5676 the Jordan ^H3383, in the valley ^H1516 opposite ^H4136 Beth-peor ^H1047, in the land ^H776 of Sihon ^H5511 king ^H4428 of the Amorites ^H567 who ^H834 lived ^H3427 at Heshbon ^H2809, whom ^H834 Moses ^H4872 and the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 struck ^H5221 down ^H5221 when they came ^H3318 out ^H3318 from Egypt ^H4714. 47 And they took ^H3423 possession ^H3423 of his land ^H776 and the land ^H776 of Og ^H5747 king ^H4428 of Bashan ^H1316, the two ^H8147 kings ^H4428 of the Amorites ^H567, who were across ^H5676 the Jordan ^H3383 to the east toward the sunrise ^H4217 H8121, 48 from Aroer ^H6177, which ^H834 is on the edge ^H8193 of the [fn]valley ^H5158 of Arnon ^H769, even as far ^H5704 as Mount ^H2022 Sion ^H7865 (that is, Hermon ^H2768), 49 with all ^H3605 the Arabah ^H6160 across ^H5676 the Jordan ^H3383 to the east ^H4217, even as far ^H5704 as the sea ^H3220 of the Arabah ^H6160, [fn]at ^H8478 the ^H8478 foot ^H8478 of ^H8478 the slopes ^H794 of Pisgah ^H6449.
