He Walks Among Those Who Walk in His Statutes

1 ‘You shall not make ^H6213 for yourselves [fn]idols ^H457, nor ^H3808 shall you set ^H6965 up ^H6965 for yourselves a graven ^H6459 image ^H6459 or a sacred pillar ^H4676, nor ^H3808 shall you [fn]place ^H5414 a carved ^H4906 stone ^H68 in your land ^H776 to bow ^H2331 down ^H2331 [fn]to it; for I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430.

2 You shall keep ^H8104 My sabbaths ^H7676 and fear ^H3372 My sanctuary ^H4720; I am Yahweh ^H3068. 3 If ^H518 you walk ^H1980 in My statutes ^H2708 and keep ^H8104 My commandments ^H4687 so as to do ^H6213 them, 4 then I shall give ^H5414 you rains ^H1653 in their season ^H6256, so that the land ^H776 will give ^H5414 forth its produce ^H2981 and the trees ^H6086 of the field ^H7704 will give ^H5414 forth their fruit ^H6529. 5 Indeed, your threshing ^H1786 will last ^H5381 for you until ^H5381 grape ^H1210 gathering ^H1210, and grape ^H1210 gathering ^H1210 will last ^H5381 until ^H5381 sowing ^H2233 time ^H2233. You will thus eat ^H398 your [fn]food ^H3899 to the full ^H7648 and live ^H3427 securely ^H983 in your land ^H776. 6 I shall also give ^H5414 you peace ^H7965 in the land ^H776 so that you may lie ^H7901 down ^H7901, with no ^H369 one ^H369 making you tremble ^H2729. I shall also eliminate ^H7673 wild ^H7451 beasts ^H2416 from the land ^H776, and no ^H3808 sword ^H2719 will pass ^H5674 through your land ^H776. 7 But you will pursue ^H7291 your enemies ^H340, and they will fall ^H5307 before ^H6440 you by the sword ^H2719; 8 and five ^H2568 of you will pursue ^H7291 one hundred ^H3967, and one hundred ^H3967 of you will pursue ^H7291 ten ^H7233 thousand ^H7233, and your enemies ^H340 will fall ^H5307 before ^H6440 you by the sword ^H2719. 9 So I will turn ^H6437 toward ^H413 you and make ^H6509 you fruitful ^H6509 and multiply ^H7235 you, and I will confirm ^H6965 My covenant ^H1285 with you. 10 And you will eat ^H398 the old ^H3465 supply ^H3462 and clear ^H3318 out ^H3318 the old ^H3465 because ^H4480 H6440 of the new ^H2319. 11 Moreover, I will [fn]make ^H5414 My [fn]dwelling ^H4908 among ^H8432 you, and My soul ^H5315 will not loathe ^H1602 you. 12 I will also walk ^H1980 among ^H8432 you and be your God ^H430, and you shall be My people ^H5971. 13 I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430, who ^H834 brought ^H3318 you out ^H3318 of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 so ^H4480 that ^H4480 you would not ^H4480 be their slaves ^H5650, and I broke ^H7665 the bars ^H4133 of your yoke ^H5923 and made you walk ^H1980 erect ^H6968.

Reject His Statutes and He Will Strike You

14 ‘But if ^H518 you do not obey ^H8085 Me and do not do ^H6213 all ^H3605 these ^H428 commandments ^H4687,

15 if ^H518, instead, you reject ^H3988 My statutes ^H2708, and if ^H518 your soul ^H5315 loathes ^H1602 My judgments ^H4941 so as not to do ^H6213 all ^H3605 My commandments ^H4687 and so break ^H6565 My covenant ^H1285, 16 I, in ^H637 turn ^H637, will do ^H6213 this ^H2088 to you: I will appoint ^H6485 over ^H5921 you a sudden ^H928 terror ^H928, consumption ^H7829 and fever ^H6920 that will waste ^H3615 away ^H3615 the eyes ^H5869 and cause the soul ^H5315 to pine ^H1727 away ^H1727; also, you will sow ^H2232 your seed ^H2233 uselessly ^H7385, for your enemies ^H340 will eat ^H398 it up ^H398. 17 And I will [fn]set ^H5414 My face ^H6440 against you so that you will be [fn]defeated ^H5062 before ^H6440 your enemies ^H340; and those who hate ^H8130 you will have dominion ^H7287 over you, and you will flee ^H5127 when no ^H369 one ^H369 is pursuing ^H7291 you. 18 If ^H518 also after ^H5704 these ^H428 things ^H428 you do not obey ^H8085 Me, then I will discipline ^H3256 you seven ^H7651 times ^H7651 more ^H3254 for your sins ^H2403. 19 I will also break ^H7665 down ^H7665 your pride ^H1347 of strength ^H5797; I will also give ^H5414 your sky ^H8064 over ^H5414 to become like iron ^H1270 and your earth ^H776 like bronze ^H5154. 20 And your power ^H3581 will be spent ^H8552 uselessly ^H7385, for your land ^H776 will not give ^H5414 forth its produce ^H2981 and the trees ^H6086 of the land ^H776 will not give ^H5414 forth their fruit ^H6529.

21 ‘If ^H518 then, you walk ^H1980 in hostility ^H7147 against ^H5973 Me and are unwilling ^H3808 H14 to obey ^H8085 Me, I will increase ^H3254 the plague ^H4347 on you seven ^H7651 times ^H7651 according to your sins ^H2403. 22 And I will send ^H7971 out ^H7971 among you the beasts ^H2416 of the field ^H7704, which will bereave ^H7921 you of ^H7921 your children ^H7921 and cut ^H3772 down ^H3772 your cattle ^H929 and reduce ^H4591 your number so that your roads ^H1870 lie ^H8074 desolate ^H8074.

23 ‘And if ^H518 by these ^H428 things ^H428 you do not accept ^H3256 My discipline ^H3256, but walk ^H1980 in hostility ^H7147 against ^H5973 Me, 24 then I will walk ^H1980 in hostility ^H7147 against ^H5973 you; and I, even ^H1571 I, will strike ^H5221 you seven ^H7651 times ^H7651 for your sins ^H2403. 25 I will also bring ^H935 upon you a sword ^H2719 which will execute ^H5358 vengeance ^H5359 for the covenant ^H1285; and when you gather ^H622 together into your cities ^H5892, I will send ^H7971 pestilence ^H1698 among ^H8432 you so that you shall be given ^H5414 over into enemy ^H340 hands ^H3027. 26 When I break ^H7665 your staff ^H4294 of bread ^H3899, ten ^H6235 women ^H802 will bake ^H644 your bread ^H3899 in one ^H259 oven ^H8574, and they will bring ^H7725 back ^H7725 your bread ^H3899 by rationed weight ^H4948 so that you will eat ^H398 and not become ^H7646 full ^H7646.

27 ‘Yet, if ^H518 in spite of this ^H2088 you do not obey ^H8085 Me, but walk ^H1980 in hostility ^H7147 against ^H5973 Me, 28 then I will walk ^H1980 in wrathful ^H2534 hostility ^H7147 against ^H5973 you, and I, even ^H637 I, will discipline ^H3256 you seven ^H7651 times ^H7651 for your sins ^H2403. 29 Further, you will eat ^H398 the flesh ^H1320 of your sons ^H1121, and the flesh ^H1320 of your daughters ^H1323 you will eat ^H398. 30 I then will destroy ^H8045 your high ^H1116 places ^H1116 and cut ^H3772 down ^H3772 your incense ^H2553 altars ^H2553 and give ^H5414 your corpses ^H6297 to lie on the corpses ^H6297 of your idols ^H1544, for My soul ^H5315 shall loathe ^H1602 you. 31 And I will give ^H5414 your cities ^H5892 over ^H5414 as a waste ^H2723 and will make ^H8074 your sanctuaries ^H4720 desolate ^H8074, and I will not smell ^H7306 your soothing ^H5207 aromas ^H7381. 32 And I will make ^H8074 the land ^H776 desolate ^H8074, so that your enemies ^H340 who inhabit ^H3427 it will themselves feel ^H8074 desolate ^H8074 because ^H5921 of it. 33 You, however, I will scatter ^H2219 among the nations ^H1471 and will draw ^H7324 out ^H7324 a sword ^H2719 after ^H310 you, as your land ^H776 becomes ^H1961 desolate ^H8077 and your cities ^H5892 become ^H1961 waste ^H2723.

34 ‘Then ^H227 the land ^H776 will make ^H7521 up ^H7521 for its sabbaths ^H7676 all ^H3605 the days ^H3117 of the desolation ^H8074, and you will be in your enemies’ ^H340 land ^H776; then ^H227 the land ^H776 will rest ^H7673 and make ^H7521 up ^H7521 for its sabbaths ^H7676. 35 All ^H3605 the days ^H3117 of its desolation ^H8074 it will observe ^H7673 the rest ^H7673 which ^H834 it did not observe ^H7673 on your sabbaths ^H7676, while you were living ^H3427 on it. 36 As for those of you who may remain ^H7604, I will also bring ^H935 weakness ^H4816 into their hearts ^H3824 in the lands ^H776 of their enemies ^H340. And the sound ^H6963 of a driven ^H5086 leaf ^H5929 will pursue ^H7291 them, and even when no ^H369 one is pursuing ^H7291 they will flee ^H5127 [fn]as though ^H4499 from the sword ^H2719, and they will fall ^H5307. 37 They will therefore stumble ^H3782 over each ^H376 other ^H251 as if running from the sword ^H2719, although no ^H369 one ^H369 is pursuing ^H7291; and you will have ^H1961 no strength [fn]to stand ^H8617 up before ^H6440 your enemies ^H340. 38 But you will perish ^H6 among the nations ^H1471, and your enemies’ ^H340 land ^H776 will consume ^H398 you. 39 So those of you who may remain ^H7604 will rot ^H4743 away ^H4743 in their iniquity ^H5771 in the lands ^H776 of your enemies ^H340; and also ^H637 in the iniquities ^H5771 of their fathers ^H1 they will rot ^H4743 away ^H4743 with them.

40 ‘If they confess ^H3034 their iniquity ^H5771 and the iniquity ^H5771 of their fathers ^H1, in their unfaithfulness ^H4603 which ^H834 they committed ^H4603 against Me, and also ^H637 how they walked ^H1980 in hostility ^H7147 against ^H5973 Me— 41 I also ^H637 was walking ^H1980 in hostility ^H7147 against ^H5973 them, to bring ^H935 them into the land ^H776 of their enemies ^H340—or ^H176 if ^H227 their uncircumcised ^H6189 heart ^H3824 becomes ^H3665 humbled ^H3665 so that they then ^H227 make ^H7521 up ^H7521 for their iniquity ^H5771, 42 then I will remember ^H2142 My covenant ^H1285 with Jacob ^H3290, and I will remember ^H2142 also ^H637 My covenant ^H1285 with Isaac ^H3327 and My covenant ^H1285 with Abraham ^H85 as well ^H637, and I will remember ^H2142 the land ^H776. 43 For the land ^H776 will be forsaken ^H5800 by them and will make ^H7521 up for its sabbaths ^H7676 while it is made ^H8074 desolate ^H8074 without ^H4480 them. They, meanwhile, will be making ^H7521 up ^H7521 for their iniquity ^H5771 [fn]because ^H3282 they rejected ^H3988 My judgments ^H4941 and their soul ^H5315 loathed ^H1602 My statutes ^H2708. 44 Yet in spite ^H637 H1571 of this ^H2088, when they are in the land ^H776 of their enemies ^H340, I will not reject ^H3988 them, nor ^H3808 will I so loathe ^H1602 them as to bring ^H3615 an ^H3615 end ^H3615 to ^H3615 them, breaking ^H6565 My covenant ^H1285 with them; for I am Yahweh ^H3068 their God ^H430. 45 But I will remember ^H2142 for them the covenant ^H1285 with their ancestors ^H7223, whom ^H834 I brought ^H3318 out ^H3318 of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 in the sight ^H5869 of the nations ^H1471, that I might be their God ^H430. I am Yahweh ^H3068.’”

46 These ^H428 are the statutes ^H2706 and judgments ^H4941 and laws ^H8451 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 has given ^H5414 to be between ^H996 Himself and the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 by the hand ^H3027 of Moses ^H4872 at Mount ^H2022 Sinai ^H5514.
