Judging Others

1 “Do not judge ^G2919, so ^G2443 that you will not be judged ^G2919.

2 For with what judgment ^G2917 you judge ^G2919, you will be judged ^G2919; and with what measure ^G3358 you measure ^G3354, it will be measured ^G3354 to you. 3 And why ^G5101 do you look ^G991 at the speck ^G2595 that is in your brother’s ^G80 eye ^G3788, but do not notice ^G2657 the log ^G1385 that is in your own eye ^G3788? 4 Or ^G2228 how ^G4459 [fn]can you say ^G3004 to your brother ^G80, ‘Let ^G863 me take ^G1544 the speck ^G2595 out ^G1544 of your eye ^G3788,’ and behold ^G2400, the log ^G1385 is in your own eye ^G3788? 5 You hypocrite ^G5273, first ^G4413 take ^G1544 the log ^G1385 out ^G1544 of your own eye ^G3788, and then ^G5119 you will see ^G1227 clearly ^G1227 to take ^G1544 the speck ^G2595 out ^G1544 of your brother’s ^G80 eye ^G3788.

6 “Do not give ^G1325 what ^G3588 is holy ^G40 to dogs ^G2965, and do not throw ^G906 your pearls ^G3135 before ^G1715 swine ^G5519, lest ^G3379 they trample ^G2662 them under ^G2662 their feet ^G4228, and turn ^G4762 and tear ^G4486 you to ^G4486 pieces ^G4486.

Ask, and It Will Be Given

7 “[fn]Ask ^G154, and it will be given ^G1325 to you; [fn]seek ^G2212, and you will find ^G2147; [fn]knock ^G2925, and it will be opened ^G455 to you.

8 For everyone ^G3956 who asks ^G154 receives ^G2983, and he who seeks ^G2212 finds ^G2147, and to him who knocks ^G2925 it will be opened ^G455. 9 Or ^G2228 what ^G5101 man ^G444 is there among ^G1537 you [fn]who ^G3739, when ^G3739 his son ^G5207 asks ^G154 for a loaf ^G740, [fn]will give ^G1929 him a stone ^G3037? 10 Or ^G2228 [fn]if ^G2532 he asks ^G154 for a fish ^G2486, he will not give ^G1929 him a snake ^G3789, will he? 11 If ^G1487 you then ^G3767, being ^G1510 evil ^G4190, know ^G6063 how ^G6063 to give ^G1325 good ^G18 gifts ^G1390 to your children ^G5043, how ^G4214 much ^G4214 more ^G3123 will your Father ^G3962 who is in heaven ^G3772 give ^G1325 what ^G18 is ^G18 good ^G18 to those ^G3588 who ask ^G154 Him!

12 “Therefore ^G3767, in all things ^G3956, whatever ^G3745 G1437 you want ^G2309 people ^G444 to do ^G4160 for you ^G5213, so ^G3779 do ^G4160 for them ^G846, for this ^G3778 is the Law ^G3551 and the Prophets ^G4396.

The Narrow Gate

13 “Enter ^G1525 through ^G1223 the narrow ^G4728 gate ^G4439; for the gate ^G4439 is wide ^G4116 and the way ^G3598 is broad ^G2149 that leads ^G520 to destruction ^G684, and there ^G1510 are many ^G4183 who enter ^G1525 through ^G1223 it.

14 For the gate ^G4439 is narrow ^G4728 and the way ^G3598 is constricted ^G2346 that leads ^G520 to life ^G2222, and there ^G1510 are few ^G3641 who find ^G2147 it.

A Tree and Its Fruit

15 “Beware ^G4337 of the false ^G5578 prophets ^G5578, who ^G3748 come ^G2064 to you in sheep’s ^G4263 clothing ^G1742, but inwardly ^G2081 are ravenous ^G727 wolves ^G3074.

16 You will [fn]know ^G1921 them by their fruits ^G2590. [fn]Are grapes ^G4718 gathered ^G4816 from thorn ^G173 bushes or ^G2228 figs ^G4810 from thistles ^G5146? 17 Even so ^G3779, every ^G3956 good ^G18 tree ^G1186 bears ^G4160 good ^G2570 fruit ^G2590, but the bad ^G4550 tree ^G1186 bears ^G4160 bad ^G4190 fruit ^G2590. 18 A good ^G18 tree ^G1186 cannot ^G1410 G3756 bear ^G5342 bad ^G4190 fruit ^G2590, nor ^G3761 can a bad ^G4550 tree ^G1186 bear ^G5342 good ^G2570 fruit ^G2590. 19 Every ^G3956 tree ^G1186 that does not bear ^G4160 good ^G2570 fruit ^G2590 is cut ^G1581 down ^G1581 and thrown ^G906 into the fire ^G4442. 20 So ^G1065 then ^G686, you will [fn]know ^G1921 them by their fruits ^G2590.

21 “Not everyone ^G3956 who says ^G3004 to Me, ‘Lord ^G2962, Lord ^G2962,’ will enter ^G1525 the kingdom ^G932 of heaven ^G3772, but he who does ^G4160 the will ^G2307 of My Father ^G3962 who is in heaven ^G3772 will enter. 22 Many ^G4183 will say ^G3004 to Me on that day ^G2250, ‘Lord ^G2962, Lord ^G2962, in Your name ^G3686 did we not prophesy ^G4395, and in Your name ^G3686 cast ^G1544 out ^G1544 demons ^G1140, and in Your name ^G3686 do ^G4160 many ^G4183 [fn]miracles ^G1411?’ 23 And then ^G5119 I will declare ^G3670 to them, ‘I never ^G3763 knew ^G1097 you; DEPART ^G672 FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE ^G2038 LAWLESSNESS ^G458.’

Build Your House on the Rock

24 “Therefore ^G3767 everyone ^G3956 who ^G3748 hears ^G191 these ^G3778 words ^G3056 of Mine ^G1473 and does ^G4160 them, [fn]may be compared ^G3666 to a wise ^G5429 man ^G435 who ^G3748 built ^G3618 his house ^G3614 on the rock ^G4073.

25 And the rain ^G1028 descended ^G2597, and the rivers ^G4215 came ^G2064, and the winds ^G417 blew ^G4154 and fell ^G4363 against ^G4363 that house ^G3614; and yet it did not fall ^G4098, for it had been founded ^G2311 on the rock ^G4073. 26 And everyone ^G3956 hearing ^G191 these ^G3778 words ^G3056 of Mine ^G1473 and not doing ^G4160 them, may be compared ^G3666 to a foolish ^G3474 man ^G435 who ^G3748 built ^G3618 his house ^G3614 on the sand ^G285. 27 And the rain ^G1028 descended ^G2597, and the rivers ^G4215 came ^G2064, and the winds ^G417 blew ^G4154 and slammed ^G4350 against ^G4350 that house ^G3614; and it fell ^G4098—and great ^G3173 was its fall ^G4431.”

28 [fn]Now ^G2532 it happened ^G1096 that when ^G3753 Jesus ^G2424 had finished ^G5055 these ^G3778 words ^G3056, the crowds ^G3793 were astonished ^G1605 at His teaching ^G1322; 29 for He was teaching ^G1321 them as one having ^G2192 authority ^G1849, and not as their scribes ^G1122.
