A Living and Holy Sacrifice

1 Therefore ^G3767 I exhort ^G3870 you, brothers ^G80, by the mercies ^G3628 of God ^G2316, to present ^G3936 your bodies ^G4983 as a sacrifice ^G2378—living ^G2198, holy ^G40, and pleasing ^G2101 to God ^G2316, which is your [fn]spiritual ^G3050 service ^G2999 of ^G2999 worship ^G2999.

2 And do not be conformed ^G4964 to this ^G3778 [fn]world ^G165, but be transformed ^G3339 by the renewing ^G342 of your mind ^G3563, so ^G1519 that you may approve ^G1381 what ^G5101 the will ^G2307 of God ^G2316 is, that which is good ^G18 and pleasing ^G2101 and [fn]perfect ^G5046.

3 For through ^G1223 the grace ^G5485 given ^G1325 to me I say ^G3004 to each ^G3956 one among ^G1722 you not to think ^G5252 more ^G5252 highly ^G5252 of himself than ^G3844 he ought ^G1163 to think ^G5426; but to think ^G5426 so ^G1519 as to have ^G4993 sound ^G4993 thinking ^G4993, as God ^G2316 has allotted ^G3307 to each ^G1538 a measure ^G3358 of faith ^G4102. 4 For just ^G2509 as ^G2509 we have ^G2192 many ^G4183 members ^G3196 in one ^G1520 body ^G4983 and all ^G3956 the members ^G3196 do not have ^G2192 the same ^G846 function ^G4234, 5 so ^G3779 we, who are many ^G4183, are one ^G1520 body ^G4983 in Christ ^G5547, and individually ^G2596 G1520 members ^G3196 one ^G1520 of another ^G240, 6 but ^G1161 having ^G2192 gifts ^G5486 that differ ^G1313 according ^G2596 to the grace ^G5485 given ^G1325 to us: whether ^G1535 prophecy ^G4394, [fn]in ^G2596 agreement ^G356 with the faith ^G4102; 7 or ^G1535 [fn]service ^G1248, in his serving ^G1248; or ^G1535 he who teaches ^G1321, in his teaching ^G1319; 8 or ^G1535 he who exhorts ^G3870, in his exhortation ^G3874; he who gives ^G3330, with [fn]generosity ^G572; he who [fn]leads ^G4291, with diligence ^G4710; he who shows ^G1653 mercy ^G1653, with cheerfulness ^G2432.

9 Let love ^G26 be without ^G505 hypocrisy ^G505—by abhorring ^G655 what ^G4190 is ^G4190 evil ^G4190, clinging ^G2853 to what ^G18 is ^G18 good ^G18, 10 being devoted ^G5387 to one ^G240 another ^G240 in brotherly ^G5360 love ^G5360, [fn]giving ^G4285 preference ^G4285 to one ^G240 another ^G240 in honor ^G5092, 11 not lagging ^G3636 behind ^G3636 in diligence ^G4710, being fervent ^G2204 in spirit ^G4151, serving ^G1398 the Lord ^G2962, 12 rejoicing ^G5463 in hope ^G1680, persevering ^G5278 in affliction ^G2347, being devoted ^G4342 to prayer ^G4335, 13 contributing ^G2841 to the needs ^G5532 of the [fn]saints ^G40, pursuing ^G1377 hospitality ^G5381.

14 Bless ^G2127 those ^G3588 who persecute ^G1377 [fn]you; bless ^G2127, and do not curse ^G2672. 15 Rejoice ^G5463 with those who rejoice ^G5463; weep ^G2799 with those who weep ^G2799, 16 by being of the same ^G846 mind ^G5426 toward ^G1519 one ^G240 another ^G240, not being haughty ^G5308 in ^G5426 mind ^G5426, but [fn]associating ^G4879 with the humble ^G5011. For it is written ^G1125, “VENGEANCE ^G1557 IS MINE ^G1699, I WILL REPAY ^G467,” says ^G3004 the Lord ^G2962. 20 “BUT IF ^G1437 YOUR ENEMY ^G2190 IS HUNGRY ^G3983, FEED ^G5595 HIM, AND IF ^G1437 HE IS THIRSTY ^G1372, GIVE ^G4222 HIM A ^G4222 DRINK ^G4222; FOR IN SO ^G3778 DOING ^G4160 YOU WILL HEAP ^G4987 BURNING ^G4442 COALS ^G440 ON HIS HEAD ^G2776.” 21 Do not be overcome ^G3528 by evil ^G2556, but overcome ^G3528 evil ^G2556 with good ^G18.
