David’s Psalm of Deliverance

1 Now David ^H1732 spoke ^H1696 the words ^H1697 of this ^H2088 song ^H7892 to the LORD ^H3068 on the day ^H3117 that the LORD ^H3068 had saved ^H5337 him from the [fn]hand ^H3709 of all ^H3605 his enemies ^H340 and from the [fn]hand ^H3709 of Saul ^H7586.

2 He said ^H559,

“The LORD ^H3068 is my [fn]rock ^H5553 and my fortress ^H4686 and my deliverer ^H6403;

3 [fn]My God ^H430, my rock ^H6697, in whom I take ^H2620 refuge ^H2620,

My shield ^H4043 and the horn ^H7161 of my salvation ^H3468, my stronghold ^H4869 and my refuge ^H4498;

My savior ^H3467, You save ^H3467 me from violence ^H2555.

4 “I call ^H7121 upon the LORD ^H3068, who is worthy to be praised ^H1984,

And I am saved ^H3467 from my enemies ^H340.

5 “For the waves ^H4867 of death ^H4194 encompassed ^H661 me;

The floods ^H5158 of [fn]destruction ^H1100 terrified ^H1204 me;

6 The ropes ^H2256 of [fn]Sheol ^H7585 surrounded ^H5437 me;

The snares ^H4170 of death ^H4194 confronted ^H6923 me.

7 “In my distress ^H6862 I called ^H7121 upon the LORD ^H3068,

Yes, I called ^H7121 out ^H7121 to my God ^H430;

And from His temple ^H1964 He heard ^H8085 my voice ^H6963,

And my cry ^H7775 for ^H7775 help ^H7775 came into His ears ^H241.

8 “Then the earth ^H776 shook ^H1607 and quaked ^H7493,

The foundations ^H4144 of heaven ^H8064 were trembling ^H7264

And were shaken ^H1607, because ^H3588 He was ^H2734 angry ^H2734.

9 “Smoke ^H6227 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 [fn]out of His nostrils ^H639,

And fire ^H784 from His mouth ^H6310 was devouring ^H398;

Coals ^H1513 were kindled ^H1197 by it.

10 “He also bowed ^H5186 the heavens ^H8064 down ^H5186 low ^H5186, and came ^H3381 down ^H3381

With thick ^H6205 darkness ^H6205 under ^H8478 His feet ^H7272.

11 “He rode ^H7392 on a cherub ^H3742 and flew ^H5774;

He [fn]appeared ^H7200 on the wings ^H3671 of the wind ^H7307.

12 “He made ^H7896 darkness ^H2822 canopies ^H5521 around ^H5439 Him,

A mass ^H2841 of waters ^H4325, thick ^H5645 clouds ^H5645 of the sky ^H7834.

13 “From the brightness ^H5051 before ^H5048 Him

Coals ^H1513 of fire ^H784 were kindled ^H1197.

14 “The LORD ^H3068 thundered ^H7481 from heaven ^H8064,

And the Most ^H5945 High ^H5945 uttered ^H5414 His voice ^H6963.

He drew ^H4871 me out ^H4871 of many ^H7227 waters ^H4325.

18 “He rescued ^H5337 me from my strong ^H5794 enemy ^H340,

From those who hated ^H8130 me, for they were ^H553 too ^H4480 strong ^H553 for me.

19 “They confronted ^H6923 me on the day ^H3117 of my disaster ^H343,

But the LORD ^H3068 was my support ^H4937.

20 “He also brought ^H3318 me out ^H3318 into an open ^H4800 place ^H4800;

He rescued ^H2502 me, because ^H3588 He delighted ^H2654 in me.

21 “The LORD ^H3068 has treated ^H1580 me in accordance with my righteousness ^H6666;

In accordance with the cleanliness ^H1252 of my hands ^H3027 He has repaid ^H7725 me.

22 “For I have kept ^H8104 the ways ^H1870 of the LORD ^H3068,

And have not acted ^H7561 wickedly ^H7561 against ^H4480 my God ^H430.

23 “For all ^H3605 His ordinances ^H4941 were before ^H5048 me,

And as for His statutes ^H2708, I did not deviate ^H5493 from [fn]them.

24 “I was also [fn]blameless ^H8549 toward Him,

And I have kept ^H8104 myself from my wrongdoing ^H5771.

25 “So the LORD ^H3068 has repaid ^H7725 me in accordance with my righteousness ^H6666,

In accordance with my cleanliness ^H1252 before ^H5048 His eyes ^H5869.

26 “With the one who is faithful ^H2623 You show ^H2616 Yourself faithful ^H2616,

With the [fn]blameless ^H8549 one You prove ^H8552 Yourself [fn]blameless ^H8552;

27 With the one who is pure ^H1305 You show ^H1305 Yourself pure ^H1305,

But with the perverted ^H6141 You [fn]show ^H6617 Yourself astute ^H6617.

28 “And You save ^H3467 an afflicted ^H6041 people ^H5971;

But Your eyes ^H5869 are on the haughty ^H7311 whom You humiliate ^H8213.

29 “For You are my lamp ^H5216, LORD ^H3068;

And the LORD ^H3068 illuminates ^H5050 my darkness ^H2822.

30 “For by You I can run ^H7323 at a [fn]troop ^H1416 of ^H1416 warriors ^H1416;

By my God ^H430 I can leap ^H1801 over a wall ^H7791.

31 “As for God ^H410, His way ^H1870 is [fn]blameless ^H8549;

The word ^H565 of the LORD ^H3068 is refined ^H6884;

He is a shield ^H4043 to all ^H3605 who take ^H2620 refuge ^H2620 in Him.

32 “For who ^H4310 is God ^H410, except ^H1107 the LORD ^H3068?

And who ^H4310 is a rock ^H6697, except ^H1107 our God ^H430?

33 “God ^H410 is my strong ^H2428 fortress ^H4581;

And He [fn]sets ^H5425 the [fn]blameless ^H8549 on [fn]His way ^H1870.

34 “He makes ^H7737 [fn]my feet ^H7272 like deer’s ^H355 feet,

And sets ^H5975 me on my high ^H1116 places ^H1116.

35 “He trains ^H3925 my hands ^H3027 for battle ^H4421,

So that my arms ^H2220 can bend ^H5181 a bow ^H7198 of bronze ^H5154.

36 “You have also given ^H5414 me the shield ^H4043 of Your salvation ^H3468,

And Your [fn]help ^H6038 makes ^H7235 me great ^H7235.

37 “You enlarge ^H7337 my steps ^H6806 under ^H8478 me,

And my [fn]feet ^H7166 have not slipped ^H4571.

38 “I pursued ^H7291 my enemies ^H340 and eliminated ^H8045 them,

Even to the LORD ^H3068, but He did not answer ^H6030 them.

43 “Then I pulverized ^H7833 them as the dust ^H6083 of the earth ^H776;

I crushed ^H1854 and trampled ^H7554 them like the mud ^H2916 of the streets ^H2351.

44 “You have also saved ^H6403 me from the contentions ^H7379 of my people ^H5971;

You have kept ^H8104 me as head ^H7218 of the nations ^H1471;

A people ^H5971 I have not known ^H3045 serve ^H5647 me.

45 “Foreigners ^H1121 H5236 pretend ^H3584 to ^H3584 obey ^H3584 me;

As soon as they hear ^H241 H8085, they obey ^H8085 me.

46 “Foreigners ^H1121 H5236 lose ^H5034 heart ^H5034,

And [fn]come ^H2727 trembling ^H2727 out of their fortresses ^H4526.

47 “The LORD ^H3068 lives ^H2416, and blessed ^H1288 be my Rock ^H6697;

And exalted ^H7311 be [fn]my God ^H430, the rock ^H6697 of my salvation ^H3468,

48 The God ^H410 who executes ^H5414 vengeance ^H5360 for me,

And brings ^H3381 down ^H3381 peoples ^H5971 under ^H8478 me,

49 Who also brings ^H3318 me out ^H3318 from my enemies ^H340;

You also raise ^H7311 me above ^H4480 those who rise ^H6965 up ^H6965 against me;

You rescue ^H5337 me from the violent ^H2555 person ^H376.

50 “Therefore ^H5921 H3651 I will [fn]give ^H3034 thanks ^H3034 to You, LORD ^H3068, among the nations ^H1471,

And I will sing ^H2167 praises ^H2167 to Your name ^H8034.

51 “He is a tower ^H4024 of [fn]salvation ^H3444 to His king ^H4428,

And shows ^H6213 favor ^H2617 to His anointed ^H4899,

To David ^H1732 and his [fn]descendants ^H2233 forever ^H5704 H5769.”
