The Sins of Israel

1 Then the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559,

2 “And you, son ^H1121 of man ^H120, will you judge ^H8199, will you judge ^H8199 the bloody ^H1818 city ^H5892? Then inform ^H3045 her of all ^H3605 her abominations ^H8441. 3 And you shall say ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “A city ^H5892 shedding ^H8210 blood ^H1818 in her midst ^H8432, so that her time ^H6256 is coming ^H935; and a city that makes ^H6213 idols ^H1544, contrary ^H5921 to her own good, for defilement ^H2930! 4 You have become ^H816 guilty ^H816 by [fn]the blood ^H1818 which ^H834 you have shed ^H8210, and you have become ^H2930 defiled ^H2930 by your idols ^H1544 which ^H834 you have made ^H6213. So you have brought ^H7126 your days ^H3117 closer ^H7126 and have come ^H935 to your years ^H8141; therefore ^H5921 H3651 I have made ^H6213 you a disgrace ^H2781 to the nations ^H1471, and an object ^H7048 of ^H7048 mocking ^H7048 to all ^H3605 the lands ^H776. 5 Those who are near ^H7138 and those who are far ^H7350 from you will make ^H7046 fun ^H7046 of you, you of ill ^H2931 repute ^H8034, full ^H7227 of turmoil ^H4103.

6 “Behold ^H2009, the rulers ^H5387 of Israel ^H3478, each ^H376 according to his [fn]power ^H2220, have been ^H1961 among you for the purpose ^H4616 of shedding ^H8210 blood ^H1818. 7 They have treated ^H7043 father ^H1 and mother ^H517 with ^H7043 contempt ^H7043 among you. They have oppressed ^H6213 H6233 the stranger ^H1616 in your midst ^H8432; they have oppressed ^H3238 the orphan ^H3490 and the widow ^H490 among you. 8 You have despised ^H959 My holy ^H6944 things ^H6944 and profaned ^H2490 My Sabbaths ^H7676. 9 Slanderous ^H7400 men ^H376 have been ^H1961 among you for the purpose ^H4616 of shedding ^H8210 blood ^H1818, and among you they have eaten ^H398 at the mountain ^H2022 shrines. In your midst ^H8432 they have committed ^H6213 outrageous ^H2154 sin ^H2154. 10 Among you [fn]they have uncovered ^H1540 their fathers’ ^H1 nakedness ^H6172; among you they have abused ^H6031 her who was unclean ^H2931 in her menstruation ^H5079. 11 And one ^H376 has committed ^H6213 abomination ^H8441 with his neighbor’s ^H7453 wife ^H802, another ^H376 has outrageously ^H2154 defiled ^H2930 his daughter-in-law ^H3618, and another ^H376 among you has sexually abused ^H6031 his sister ^H269, his father’s ^H1 daughter ^H1323. 12 Among you they have taken ^H3947 bribes ^H7810 to shed ^H8210 blood ^H1818; you have taken ^H3947 [fn]interest ^H5392 H8636, you have injured ^H1214 your neighbors ^H7453 by oppression ^H6233, and you have forgotten ^H7911 Me,” declares ^H5002 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068.

13 “Behold ^H2009, then, I strike ^H5221 with My hand ^H3709 your profit ^H1215 which ^H834 you have made ^H6213 and [fn]the bloodshed ^H1818 which ^H834 is among ^H8432 you. 14 Can your heart ^H3820 endure ^H5975, or ^H518 can your hands ^H3027 be strong ^H2388 for the days ^H3117 that I will deal ^H6213 with you? I, the LORD ^H3068, have spoken ^H1696 and will act ^H6213. 15 And I will scatter ^H6327 you among the nations ^H1471 and disperse ^H2219 you among the lands ^H776, and I will eliminate ^H8552 your uncleanness ^H2932 from you. 16 Then you will defile ^H2490 yourself in the sight ^H5869 of the nations ^H1471, and you will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068.”’”

17 And the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559, 18 “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478 has become ^H1961 [fn]waste ^H5509 metal ^H5509 to Me; all ^H3605 of them are bronze ^H5178, tin ^H913, iron ^H1270, and lead ^H5777 in the smelting ^H3564 furnace ^H3564; they are the [fn]waste ^H5509 metal ^H5509 of silver ^H3701. 19 Therefore ^H3651, this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘Because ^H3282 all ^H3605 of you have become ^H1961 [fn]waste ^H5509 metal ^H5509, therefore ^H3651, behold ^H2009, I am going to gather ^H6908 you into the midst ^H8432 of Jerusalem ^H3389. 20 As they gather ^H6910 silver ^H3701, bronze ^H5178, iron ^H1270, lead ^H5777, and tin ^H913 into the smelting ^H3564 furnace ^H3564 to blow ^H5301 fire ^H784 on it in order to melt ^H5413 it, so ^H3651 I will gather ^H6908 you in My anger ^H639 and in My wrath ^H2534, and I will place ^H5117 you there and melt ^H5413 you. 21 And I will gather ^H3664 you and blow ^H5301 on you with the fire ^H784 of My wrath ^H5678, and you will be melted ^H5413 in the midst ^H8432 of it. 22 As silver ^H3701 is melted ^H2046 in the furnace ^H3564, so ^H3651 you will be melted ^H5413 in the midst ^H8432 of it; and you will know ^H3045 that I, the LORD ^H3068, have poured ^H8210 out ^H8210 My wrath ^H2534 on you.’”

23 And the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559, 24 “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, say ^H559 to her, ‘You are a land ^H776 that is not clean ^H2891 or rained ^H1652 on in the day ^H3117 of indignation ^H2195.’ 25 There is a conspiracy ^H7195 of her prophets ^H5030 in her midst ^H8432 like a roaring ^H7580 lion ^H738 tearing ^H2963 the prey ^H2964. They have devoured ^H398 lives ^H5315; they have taken ^H3947 treasure ^H2633 and precious ^H3366 things ^H3366; they have made ^H7235 many ^H7235 widows ^H490 in the midst ^H8432 of her. 26 Her priests ^H3548 have done ^H2554 violence ^H2554 to My Law ^H8451 and have profaned ^H2490 My holy ^H6944 things ^H6944; they have made ^H914 no ^H3808 distinction ^H914 between ^H996 the holy ^H6944 and the [fn]common ^H2455, and they have not taught ^H3045 the difference between ^H996 the unclean ^H2931 and the clean ^H2889; and they have closed ^H5956 their eyes ^H5869 from My Sabbaths ^H7676, and I am defiled ^H2490 among ^H8432 them. 27 Her leaders ^H8269 within ^H7130 her are like wolves ^H2061 tearing ^H2963 the prey ^H2964, by shedding ^H8210 blood ^H1818 and destroying ^H6 lives ^H5315 in ^H4616 order ^H4616 to ^H4616 make ^H1214 dishonest ^H1215 profit ^H1215. 28 And her prophets ^H5030 have coated ^H2902 with whitewash ^H8602 for them, seeing ^H2372 false ^H7723 visions ^H2372 and divining ^H7080 lies ^H3577 for them, saying ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559,’ when the LORD ^H3068 has not spoken ^H1696. 29 The people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 have practiced ^H6231 extortion ^H6233 and committed ^H1497 robbery ^H1498, and they have oppressed ^H3238 the poor ^H6041 and needy ^H34, and have oppressed ^H6231 the stranger ^H1616 without ^H3808 justice ^H4941. 30 I searched ^H1245 for a man ^H376 among ^H4480 them who would build ^H1443 up ^H1443 a wall ^H1447 and stand ^H5975 in the gap ^H6556 before ^H6440 Me for the land ^H776, so ^H1115 that ^H1115 I would not ^H1115 destroy ^H7843 it; but I found ^H4672 [fn]no ^H3808 one. 31 So I have poured ^H8210 out ^H8210 My indignation ^H2195 on them; I have consumed ^H3615 them with the fire ^H784 of My wrath ^H5678; I have brought ^H5414 their way ^H1870 upon their heads ^H7218,” declares ^H5002 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068.
