PSALM 106

Israel’s Rebelliousness and the LORD’S Help.

1 [fn]Praise ^H1984 [fn]the LORD ^H3050!

Oh give ^H3034 thanks ^H3034 to the LORD ^H3068, for He is good ^H2896;

For His mercy ^H2617 is everlasting ^H5769.

2 Who ^H4310 can speak ^H4448 of the mighty ^H1369 deeds ^H1369 of the LORD ^H3068,

Or can proclaim ^H8085 all ^H3605 His praise ^H8416?

3 How blessed ^H835 are those who maintain ^H8104 [fn]justice ^H4941,

[fn]Who practice ^H6213 righteousness ^H6666 at all ^H3605 times ^H6256!

4 Remember ^H2142 me, LORD ^H3068, in Your favor ^H7522 [fn]toward Your people ^H5971.

Visit ^H6485 me with Your salvation ^H3444,

5 So that I may see ^H7200 the prosperity ^H2896 of Your chosen ^H972 ones ^H972,

That I may rejoice ^H8055 in the joy ^H8057 of Your nation ^H1471,

That I may boast ^H1984 with Your [fn]inheritance ^H5159.

6 We have sinned ^H2398 [fn]like ^H5973 our fathers ^H1,

We have gone ^H5753 astray ^H5753, we have behaved ^H7561 wickedly ^H7561.

7 Our fathers ^H1 in Egypt ^H4714 did not understand ^H7919 Your [fn]wonders ^H6381;

They did not remember ^H2142 [fn]Your abundant ^H7230 kindnesses ^H2617,

But rebelled ^H4784 by the sea ^H3220, at the [fn]Red ^H5488 Sea ^H3220.

8 Nevertheless He saved ^H3467 them for the sake ^H4616 of His name ^H8034,

So that He might make ^H3045 His power ^H1369 known ^H3045.

9 So He rebuked ^H1605 the [fn]Red ^H5488 Sea ^H3220 and it dried ^H2717 up ^H2717,

And He led ^H1980 them through the mighty ^H8415 waters ^H8415, as through the wilderness ^H4057.

10 So He saved ^H3467 them from the [fn]hand ^H3027 of one who hated ^H8130 them,

And redeemed ^H1350 them from the [fn]hand ^H3027 of the enemy ^H340.

11 The waters ^H4325 covered ^H3680 their adversaries ^H6862;

Not one ^H259 of them was left ^H3498.

12 Then they believed ^H539 His words ^H1697;

They sang ^H7891 His praise ^H8416.

13 They quickly ^H4116 forgot ^H7911 His works ^H4639;

They did not wait ^H2442 for His plan ^H6098,

14 But became ^H183 lustfully ^H8378 greedy ^H183 in the wilderness ^H4057,

And put ^H5254 God ^H410 to ^H5254 the ^H5254 test ^H5254 in the desert ^H3452.

15 So He gave ^H5414 them their request ^H7596,

But sent ^H7971 a [fn]wasting ^H7332 disease ^H7332 among them.

16 When they became ^H7065 envious ^H7065 of Moses ^H4872 in the camp ^H4264,

And of Aaron ^H175, the holy ^H6918 one ^H6918 of the LORD ^H3068,

17 The earth ^H776 opened ^H6605 and swallowed ^H1104 up ^H1104 Dathan ^H1885,

And engulfed ^H3680 the [fn]company ^H5712 of Abiram ^H48.

18 And a fire ^H784 blazed ^H1197 up ^H1197 in their [fn]company ^H5712;

The flame ^H3852 consumed ^H3857 the wicked ^H7563.

19 They made ^H6213 a calf ^H5695 in Horeb ^H2722,

And worshiped ^H2331 a cast ^H4541 metal ^H4541 image ^H4541.

20 So they exchanged ^H4171 their glory ^H3519

For the image ^H8403 of an ox ^H7794 that eats ^H398 grass ^H6212.

21 They forgot ^H7911 God ^H410 their Savior ^H3467,

Who had done ^H6213 great ^H1419 things ^H1419 in Egypt ^H4714,

22 [fn]Wonders ^H6381 in the land ^H776 of Ham ^H2526,

And awesome ^H3372 things by the [fn]Red ^H5488 Sea ^H3220.

23 Therefore He said ^H559 that He would destroy ^H8045 them,

If Moses ^H4872, His chosen ^H972 one, had not stood ^H5975 in the gap ^H6556 before ^H6440 Him,

To turn ^H7725 away ^H7725 His wrath ^H2534 from destroying ^H7843 them.

24 Then they rejected ^H3988 the pleasant ^H2532 land ^H776;

They did not believe ^H539 His word ^H1697,

25 But grumbled ^H7279 in their tents ^H168;

They did not listen ^H8085 to the voice ^H6963 of the LORD ^H3068.

26 Therefore He [fn]swore ^H5375 H3027 to them

That He would have them fall ^H5307 in the wilderness ^H4057,

27 And that He would bring ^H5307 down ^H5307 their [fn]descendants ^H2233 among the nations ^H1471,

And scatter ^H2219 them in the lands ^H776.

28 They also followed ^H6775 [fn]Baal-peor ^H1187,

And ate ^H398 sacrifices ^H2077 offered to the dead ^H4191.

29 So they provoked ^H3707 Him to ^H3707 anger ^H3707 with their deeds ^H4611,

And a plague ^H4046 broke ^H6555 out ^H6555 among them.

30 Then Phinehas ^H6372 stood ^H5975 up and [fn]intervened ^H6419,

And so the plague ^H4046 was brought ^H6113 to ^H6113 a ^H6113 halt ^H6113.

31 And it was credited ^H2803 to him as righteousness ^H6666,

To all ^H1755 generations ^H1755 forever ^H5704 H5769.

32 They also provoked ^H7107 Him to ^H7107 wrath ^H7107 at the waters ^H4325 of [fn]Meribah ^H4809,

So that it went ^H7489 badly ^H7489 for Moses ^H4872 on their account ^H5668.

33 Because ^H3588 they were rebellious ^H4784 against ^H854 [fn]His Spirit ^H7307,

He spoke ^H981 rashly ^H981 with his lips ^H8193.

34 They did not destroy ^H8045 the peoples ^H5971,

As the LORD ^H3068 had commanded ^H559 them,

35 But they got ^H6148 involved ^H6148 with the nations ^H1471

And learned ^H3925 their [fn]practices ^H4639,

36 And served ^H5647 their idols ^H6091,

Which became ^H1961 a snare ^H4170 to them.

37 They even sacrificed ^H2076 their sons ^H1121 and their daughters ^H1323 to the demons ^H7700,

38 And shed ^H8210 innocent ^H5355 blood ^H1818,

The blood ^H1818 of their sons ^H1121 and their daughters ^H1323

Whom ^H834 they sacrificed ^H2076 to the idols ^H6091 of Canaan ^H3667;

And the land ^H776 was defiled ^H2610 with the blood ^H1818.

39 So they became ^H2930 unclean ^H2930 in their [fn]practices ^H4639,

And [fn]were ^H2181 unfaithful ^H2181 in their deeds ^H4611.

40 Therefore the anger ^H639 of the LORD ^H3068 was kindled ^H2734 against His people ^H5971,

And He loathed ^H8581 His [fn]inheritance ^H5159.

41 So He handed ^H5414 H3027 them over ^H5414 to the [fn]nations ^H1471,

And those ^H1992 who hated ^H8130 them ruled ^H4910 over them.

42 Their enemies ^H340 also oppressed ^H3905 them,

And they were subdued ^H3665 under ^H8478 their [fn]power ^H3027.

43 Many ^H7227 times ^H6471 He would rescue ^H5337 them;

They, however, were rebellious ^H4784 in their plan ^H6098,

And they sank ^H4355 down ^H4355 into their guilt ^H5771.

44 Nevertheless He looked ^H7200 at their distress ^H6862

When He heard ^H8085 their cry ^H7440;

45 And He remembered ^H2142 His covenant ^H1285 for their sake,

And [fn]relented ^H5162 according to the greatness ^H7230 of His mercy ^H2617.

46 He also made ^H5414 them objects of compassion ^H7356

In the presence ^H6440 of all ^H3605 their captors ^H7617.

47 Save ^H3467 us, LORD ^H3068 our God ^H430,

And gather ^H6908 us from the nations ^H1471,

To give ^H3034 thanks ^H3034 to Your holy ^H6944 name ^H8034

And glory ^H7623 in Your praise ^H8416.

48 Blessed ^H1288 be the LORD ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478,

From everlasting ^H5769 to everlasting ^H5769.

And all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 shall say ^H559, “Amen ^H543.”
