Vulture:
The rendering in the Authorized Version of the Hebrew daah, dayyah, and also in Job 28:7 of ayyah. There seems no doubt that the Authorized Versions translation is incorrect, and that the original words refer to some of the smaller species of raptorial birds, as kites or buzzards. SEE [KITE]. But the Hebrew word nesher, invariably rendered "eagle" in the Authorized Version, is probably the vulture. SEE [EAGLE].
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
