He has told you, mortal one, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?
This is what the LORD says: "Let no wise man boast of his wisdom, nor let the mighty man boast of his might, nor a rich man boast of his riches;
but let the one who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises mercy, justice, and righteousness on the earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD.
Therefore, having such a hope, we use great boldness in [our] speech,
and [we are] not like Moses, [who] used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not stare at the end of what was fading away.
But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ.
But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts;
but whenever [someone] turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, [there] is freedom.
But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I see that you are very religious in all respects.
"For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.' Therefore, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you.
"The God who made the world and everything that is in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made by hands;
nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all [people] life and breath and all things;
and He made from one [man] every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined [their] appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
that they would seek God, if perhaps they might feel around for Him and find [Him,] though He is not far from each one of us;
for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His descendants.'
[A Psalm] of Praise, of David. I will exalt You, my God, the King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.
One generation will praise Your works to another, And will declare Your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of Your majesty And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
People will speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your greatness.
They will burst forth in speaking of Your abundant goodness, And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
The LORD is gracious and compassionate; Slow to anger and great in mercy.
The LORD is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works.
All Your works will give thanks to You, LORD, And Your godly ones will bless You.
They will speak of the glory of Your kingdom, And talk of Your might,
To make known to the sons of mankind Your mighty acts, And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion [endures] throughout all generations. The LORD is faithful in His words, And holy in all His works.
The LORD supports all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to You, And You give them their food in due time.
You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.
The LORD is righteous in all His ways, And kind in all His works.
The LORD is near to all who call on Him, To all who call on Him in truth.
He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry for help and save them.
The LORD watches over all who love Him, But He will destroy all the wicked.
My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, And all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.
Recognizing the value of consistent reflection upon the Word of God in order to refocus one's mind and heart upon Christ and His Gospel of peace, we provide several reading plans designed to cover the entire Bible in a year.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical,
conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy
of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a
range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed
in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
