وَضَنُكَ رِجَالُ إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي ذلِكَ الْيَوْمِ، لأَنَّ شَاوُلَ حَلَّفَ الشَّعْبَ قَائِلاً: «مَلْعُونٌ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ خُبْزًا إِلَى الْمَسَاءِ حَتَّى أَنْتَقِمَ مِنْ أَعْدَائِي». فَلَمْ يَذُقْ جَمِيعُ الشَّعْبِ خُبْزًا.

وَأَعْيَا رِجَالُ إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ، لأَنَّ شَاوُلَ حَلَّفَ الشَّعْبَ قَائِلاً: «مَلْعُونٌ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ طَعَاماً إِلَى الْمَسَاءِ حَتَّى أَنْتَقِمَ مِنْ أَعْدَائِي». فَلَمْ يَذُقْ جَمِيعُ الْقَوْمِ طَعَاماً.
