Then Eliakim H471 and Shebna H7644 and Joah H3098 said H559 to Rabshakeh H7262, “Speak H1696 now H4994 to your servants H5650 in Aramaic H762, for we [fn]understand H8085 it; and do not speak H1696 with us in [fn]Judean H3066 in the hearing H241 of the people H5971 who H834 are on the wall H2346.”
Then Eliakim H471, Shebna H7644, and Joah H3098 said H559 to Rabshakeh H7262, “Please H4994 speak H1696 to your servants H5650 in Aramaic H762, for we [fn]understand H8085 it; and do not speak H1696 to us in [fn]Judean H3066 [fn]so that the people H5971 who H834 are on the wall H2346 hear H241 you.”
Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to the Rabshakeh, “Please, speak to your servants in Aramaic, because we understand it; and do not speak to us in Judean (Hebrew) in the hearing of the people who are [stationed] on the wall.”
فَقَالَ أَلِيَاقِيمُ وَشَبْنَةُ وَيُوآخُ لِرَبْشَاقَى: «كَلِّمْ عَبِيدَكَ بِالأَرَامِيِّ لأَنَّنَا نَفْهَمُهُ، وَلاَ تُكَلِّمْنَا بِالْيَهُودِيِّ فِي مَسَامِعِ الشَّعْبِ الَّذِينَ عَلَى السُّورِ».
