After this event, Jeroboam did not [fn]abandon his evil way, but he again [fn]appointed priests of the high places from [fn]all the people; anyone who wanted, he ordained, and he became [fn]one of the priests of the high places.

καὶ μετὰ τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο οὐκ ἐπέστρεψεν Ιεροβοαμ ἀπὸ τῆς κακίας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν καὶ ἐποίησεν ἐκ μέρους τοῦ λαοῦ ἱερεῖς ὑψηλῶν βουλόμενος ἐπλήρου τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγίνετο ἱερεὺς εἰς τὰ ὑψηλά

بَعْدَ هذَا الأَمْرِ لَمْ يَرْجعْ يَرُبْعَامُ عَنْ طَرِيقِهِ الرَّدِيَّةِ، بَلْ عَادَ فَعَمِلَ مِنْ أَطْرَافِ الشَّعْبِ كَهَنَةَ مُرْتَفَعَاتٍ. مَنْ شَاءَ مَلأَ يَدَهُ فَصَارَ مِنْ كَهَنَةِ الْمُرْتَفَعَاتِ.

وَعلَى الرَّغْمِ مِنْ تَحْذِيرِ النَّبِيِّ فَإِنَّ يَرُبْعَامَ لَمْ يَحِدْ عَنْ طَرِيقِهِ الأَثِيمَةِ، بَلْ عَادَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَكَرَّسَ كَهَنَةً لِمَعَابِدِ الْمُرْتَفَعَاتِ، اخْتَارَهُمْ مِنْ عَامَّةِ الشَّعْبِ، فَكَانَ يُكَرِّسُ كُلَّ مَنْ يَرْغَبُ أَنْ يَكُونَ كَاهِناً لِهَذِهِ الْمُرْتَفَعَاتِ.
