فَقَالَ لَهُمُ الْمَلِكُ: «مَا يَحْسُنُ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ أَفْعَلُهُ». فَوَقَفَ الْمَلِكُ بِجَانِبِ الْبَابِ وَخَرَجَ جَمِيعُ الشَّعْبِ مِئَاتٍ وَأُلُوفًا.

فَأَجَابَهُمُ الْمَلِكُ: «سَأَفْعَلُ مَا يَرُوقُ لَكُمْ». وَوَقَفَ الْمَلِكُ إِلَى جِوَارِ بَوَّابَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ يُشَيِّعُ مِئَاتِ وَأُلُوفَ الْجُنُودِ الْخَارِجِينَ لِلْقِتَالِ.
