καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτῇ πάντα τὰ ἀπὸ καρδίας αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ξυρὸν οὐκ ἀναβήσεται ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλήν μου ὅτι ναζιραῖος θεοῦ ἐγώ εἰμι ἐκ κοιλίας μητρός μου καὶ ἐὰν ξυρήσωμαι ἀποστήσεται ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἰσχύς μου καὶ ἀσθενήσω καὶ ἔσομαι κατὰ πάντας τοὺς ἀνθρώπους

فَكَشَفَ لَهَا كُلَّ قَلْبِهِ، وَقَالَ لَهَا: «لَمْ يَعْلُ مُوسَى رَأْسِي لأَنِّي نَذِيرُ اللهِ مِنْ بَطْنِ أُمِّي، فَإِنْ حُلِقْتُ تُفَارِقُنِي قُوَّتِي وَأَضْعُفُ وَأَصِيرُ كَأَحَدِ النَّاسِ».

فَكَشَفَ لَهَا عَنْ مَكْنُونِ قَلْبِهِ، وَقَالَ لَهَا: «إِنَّنِي نَذِيرُ الرَّبِّ مُنْذُ مَوْلِدِي، لِهَذَا لَمْ أَحْلِقْ شَعْرِي. وَإِنْ حَلَقْتُهُ فَإِنَّ قُوَّتِي تُفَارِقُنِي وَأُصْبِحُ ضَعِيفاً كَأَيِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ».
