Jerusalem’s Desolation Foretold

1 “As for you, son ^H1121 of man ^H120, take ^H3947 a sharp ^H2299 sword ^H2719; take ^H3947 and [fn]use ^H5674 it as a barber’s ^H1532 razor ^H8593 on your head ^H7218 and beard ^H2206. Then take ^H3947 scales ^H3976 for weighing ^H4948 and divide ^H2505 [fn]the hair.

2 A third ^H7992 you shall burn ^H1197 in the fire ^H217 at the center ^H8432 of the city ^H5892, when the days ^H3117 of the siege ^H4692 are completed ^H4390. Then you shall take ^H3947 a third ^H7992 and strike ^H5221 it with the sword ^H2719 all ^H5439 around ^H5439 [fn]the city, and a third ^H7992 you shall scatter ^H2219 to the wind ^H7307; for I will unsheathe ^H7324 a sword ^H2719 behind ^H310 them. 3 Take ^H3947 also a few ^H4592 hairs in number ^H4557 from [fn]them and bind ^H6696 them in the hems ^H3671 of your robes. 4 Take ^H3947 again ^H5750 some ^H4480 of them and throw ^H7993 them into the fire ^H784 and burn ^H8313 them in the fire ^H784; from it a fire ^H784 will [fn]spread ^H3318 to all ^H3605 the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478.

5 “This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘This ^H2088 is Jerusalem ^H3389; I have placed ^H7760 her at the center ^H8432 of the nations ^H1471, with lands ^H776 around ^H5439 her. 6 But she has rebelled ^H4784 against ^H854 My ordinances ^H4941 more ^H4480 wickedly ^H7564 than ^H4480 the nations ^H1471, and against ^H854 My statutes ^H2708 more ^H4480 than ^H4480 the lands ^H776 which ^H834 surround ^H5439 her; for they have rejected ^H3988 My ordinances ^H4941 and have not walked ^H1980 [fn]in My statutes ^H2708.’ 7 Therefore ^H3651, this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘Because ^H3282 you have more ^H4480 turmoil ^H1995 than ^H4480 the nations ^H1471 that surround ^H5439 you and have not walked ^H1980 in My statutes ^H2708, nor ^H3808 executed ^H6213 My ordinances ^H4941, nor ^H3808 acted ^H6213 in accordance with the ordinances ^H4941 of the nations ^H1471 around ^H5439 you,’ 8 therefore ^H3651, this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘Behold ^H2009, I, even ^H1571 I, am against ^H5921 you, and I will execute ^H6213 judgments ^H4941 among ^H8432 you in the sight ^H5869 of the nations ^H1471. 9 And because ^H3282 of all ^H3605 your abominations ^H8441 I will do ^H6213 among you what ^H834 I have not done ^H6213, and the like ^H3644 of which ^H834 I will never ^H3808 do ^H6213 again ^H5750. 10 Therefore ^H3651, fathers ^H1 will eat ^H398 their sons ^H1121 among ^H8432 you, and sons ^H1121 will eat ^H398 their fathers ^H1; for I will execute ^H6213 judgments ^H8201 on you and scatter ^H2219 all ^H3605 your remnant ^H7611 to every ^H3605 wind ^H7307. 11 Therefore ^H3651 as I live ^H2416,’ declares ^H5002 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068, ‘Because ^H3282 you have defiled ^H2930 My sanctuary ^H4720 with all ^H3605 your detestable ^H8251 idols ^H8251 and with all ^H3605 your abominations ^H8441, I definitely ^H518 H3808 will also ^H1571 withdraw ^H1639 and My eye ^H5869 will have ^H2347 no ^H3808 pity ^H2347, and I also ^H1571 will not spare ^H2550. 12 A third ^H7992 of you will die ^H4191 by plague ^H1698 or perish ^H3615 by famine ^H7458 among ^H8432 you, a third ^H7992 will fall ^H5307 by the sword ^H2719 around ^H5439 you, and a third ^H7992 I will scatter ^H2219 to every ^H3605 wind ^H7307, and I will unsheathe ^H7324 a sword ^H2719 behind ^H310 them.

13 ‘Then My anger ^H639 will be spent ^H3615 and I will satisfy ^H5117 My wrath ^H2534 on them, and I will be appeased ^H5162; then they will know ^H3045 that I, the LORD ^H3068, have spoken ^H1696 in My zeal ^H7068, when I have spent ^H3615 My wrath ^H2534 upon them. 14 Moreover, I will make ^H5414 you a site ^H2723 of ^H2723 ruins ^H2723 and a disgrace ^H2781 among the nations ^H1471 that surround ^H5439 you, in the sight ^H5869 of everyone ^H3605 who passes ^H5674 by ^H5674. 15 So [fn]it will be a disgrace ^H2781, an object of abuse ^H1422, a warning ^H4148, and an object ^H4923 of ^H4923 horror ^H4923 to the nations ^H1471 that surround ^H5439 you when I execute ^H6213 judgments ^H8201 against you in anger ^H639, wrath ^H2534, and raging ^H2534 reprimands ^H8433. I, the LORD ^H3068, have spoken ^H1696. 16 When I send ^H7971 against them the [fn]deadly ^H7451 arrows ^H2671 of famine ^H7458 which ^H834 [fn]were for the destruction ^H4889 of those whom ^H834 I will send ^H7971 to destroy ^H7843 you, then I will also intensify ^H3254 the famine ^H7458 upon you and break ^H7665 off ^H7665 your [fn]provision ^H4294 of bread ^H3899. 17 I will send ^H7971 on you famine ^H7458 and vicious ^H7451 animals ^H2416, and they will bereave ^H7921 you of ^H7921 children ^H7921; plague ^H1698 and bloodshed ^H1818 also will pass ^H5674 through you, and I will bring ^H935 the sword ^H2719 on you. I, the LORD ^H3068, have spoken ^H1696.’”
