Judgment on Moab
1 This H3541 is H3541 what H3541 the LORD H3068 says H559:
“For three H7969 offenses H6588 of Moab H4124, and for four H702,
I will not [fn]revoke H7725 its punishment,
Because H5921 he burned H8313 the bones H6106 of the king H4428 of Edom H123 to lime H7875.
2 “So I will send H7971 fire H784 upon Moab H4124
And it will consume H398 the citadels H759 of Kerioth H7152;
And Moab H4124 will die H4191 amid the panic H7588 of battle,
Amid war H8643 cries H8643 and the sound H6963 of a trumpet H7782.
3 “I will also eliminate H3772 the [fn]judge H8199 from her midst H7130
And slay H2026 all H3605 her leaders H8269 with him,” says H559 the LORD H3068.
Judgment on Judah
4 This H3541 is H3541 what H3541 the LORD H3068 says H559:
“For three H7969 offenses H6588 of Judah H3063, and for four H702,
I will not revoke H7725 its punishment,
Because H5921 they rejected H3988 the Law H8451 of the LORD H3068
And have not kept H8104 His statutes H2706;
Their [fn]lies H3577 also have led H8582 them astray H8582,
Those which H834 their fathers H1 followed H1980 H310.
5 “So I will send H7971 fire H784 upon Judah H3063,
And it will consume H398 the citadels H759 of Jerusalem H3389.”
Judgment on Israel
6 This H3541 is H3541 what H3541 the LORD H3068 says H559:
“For three H7969 offenses H6588 of Israel H3478, and for four H702,
I will not revoke H7725 its punishment,
Because H5921 they sell H4376 the righteous H6662 for [fn]money H3701,
And the needy H34 for a pair of sandals H5275.
7 “These who [fn]trample H7602 the head H7218 of the helpless H1800 to the dust H6083 of the earth H776
Also divert H5186 the way H1870 of the humble H6035;
And a man H376 and his father H1 [fn]resort H1980 to the same [fn]girl H5291
So H4616 as H4616 to profane H2490 My holy H6944 name H8034.
8 “And on garments H899 seized H2254 as H2254 pledges H2254 they stretch H5186 out H5186 beside H681 every H3605 altar H4196,
And in the house H1004 of their God H430 they drink H8354 the wine H3196 of those who have been fined H6064.
9 “Yet it was I who destroyed H8045 the Amorite H567 before H4480 H6440 them,
[fn]Though his height H1363 was like the height H1363 of cedars H730
And he was as strong H2634 as the oaks H437;
I also destroyed H8045 his fruit H6529 above H4480 H4605 and his roots H8328 below H4480 H8478.
10 “And it was I who brought H5927 you up H5927 from the land H776 of Egypt H4714,
And led H1980 you in the wilderness H4057 for forty H705 years H8141
So that you might take H3423 possession H3423 of the land H776 of the Amorite H567.
11 “Then I raised H6965 up H6965 some H4480 of your sons H1121 to be prophets H5030,
And some H4480 of your young H970 men H970 to be Nazirites H5139.
Is this H2088 not so H637, you sons H1121 of Israel H3478?” declares H5002 the LORD H3068.
12 “But you made H8248 the Nazirites H5139 drink H8248 wine H3196,
And you commanded H6680 the prophets H5030, saying H559, ‘You shall not prophesy H5012!’
13 “Behold H2009, I am making H5781 a H5781 rut H5781 in the ground beneath H8478 you,
Just H834 as H834 a wagon H5699 makes H5781 a H5781 rut H5781 when filled H4392 with sheaves H5995.
14 “Refuge H4498 will be lost H6 from the swift H7031,
And the strong H2389 will not strengthen H553 his power H3581,
Nor H3808 the warrior H1368 save H4422 his [fn]life H5315.
15 “The one who grasps H8610 the bow H7198 will not stand H5975 his ground,
The swift H7031 of foot H7272 will not escape H4422,
Nor H3808 will the one who rides H7392 the horse H5483 save H4422 his [fn]life H5315.
16 “Even the [fn]bravest H533 H3820 among the warriors H1368 will flee H5127 naked H6174 on that day H3117,” declares H5002 the LORD H3068.
